After talking to him last night, he is going to start over there the first of March. He was buying some fur for Hughes and some for a guy named Mike?????? :? I heard through the grapvine that thats a hard county to work. The guy they had there had a reputation as a really good denning hand and all around for that matter. I also heard that they really don't like guys that take time off for any reason.
He talked like he wanted to call the new business Wyoming Fur Company.

I actually weighed the carcass before a rookie attempt at removing the glands and it weighed an even 28# with out the hide. I really want to find the mate to this cat in the next 2 weeks. :D

If I was him I would have wanted to start sooner to get to know the country some first.........this is more of a PM type of discussion. we can talk some time other time about all of that. I got a big one a few weeks ago that went 35.5 lb.

I have taken them over 36.5 my brother works for a taxidermist in Minnesota and one was brought in just this winter that went 45 lbs. I have read of one back in the 50's I think taken in Idaho that was 60 lbs!!

Stanley P young wrote about that 60 lber in Bobcats of North America. That would be pretty cool to see.

yep that is were I got that. I got one in Minnesota that was 32-34.......don't remember for sre but he was a monster when I came up on the snare. they loose a couple of pounds sitting in those traps. My biggest ones always seem to be in trail snares.

Thats what got this one. Just a snare set in a draw that had alot of coyote sign. I've taken 3 coyotes out of there so far. I think if I get that job I'll miss the cats the most. I really enjoy trappin and puttin em up.

I caught this big tom 2 days ago after an air assault on some coyotes that killed a neighbors calf. They wound up taking the den and I set some equipment to clean up any stragglers. Killed one coyote on an m-44 and caught one in a dirt hole. The bobcat was caught in a anthill scent station. Pretty cat. I hope I find him again next cat season.

I know the season is over but just for shits and giggles, how was the fur? Was it still ok? My old man said they'll stay prime intil April.
