No if memory serves me right you can not have a leghold or conibear from Oct.1 to Oct 31 in water or within 30 feet of water. Box traps or coon cuffs egg traps etc only. Something like that, it's in the regs.

So doesn't that only apply to October? I'm reading off of this
http://www.sdgfp.info/wildlife/Trapping ... erregs.pdf .pdf from the SDGFP. On the bottom of page 1 is the reg. about jaw spread and on the bottom on the right of page 3 is the regs. about coon cuffs, egg traps, etc.

Yes, that is to clear up the statement about trapping statewide, year round, that is the exception. You are good to go now!

You gave me a real fright there Randy, glad we're clear now. I see what you're saying there.
http://www.sdgfp.info/wildlife/Trapping ... erregs.pdf. <-- This site says that Mink season starts Nov. 7th, and that the reg. we were just talking about for water sets says that mink season starts on Nov. 1st. Is that just a typo or

At the dairy farm I'm working at there's a problem with raccoons getting into feed, so I put three traps out along a tree-row. One foot trap was at an intersection of two fences and the tree row, I put a cage trap on a trail and another foot trap in a trail toward the end of the tree-row. Had a rabbit wring-off at the fence intersection, nothing in the cage and a skunk in the last mentioned set. Should be able to get SOME essence out of it, assuming there's any left after the head shot.

you need to inject the skunk with acetone, and there wont be any spray or essence that leaves the body. If i get some time i can post some pictures of my skunk dispatch pole. its cheap and easy.

I've read about those poles but never found a great way to make one. That'd be great Lyonch!
