I trapped or had some type of steel in the ground of hanging for 224 consecutive days. I trapped a total of 613 animals and only 99 of them were muskrats. That equals 2.7 critters per day. Once the May/June sale is done at NAFA, i will post how much i received for all these furs. Just some quick stats that i thought were kind of interesting.

No it does not include any ferral cats. That would be just the animals that i put up and sold. A big portion of that number is the coons and beaver. 198 coons, and 180 beaver.

Ended the season with 36 trapped coyotes and 39 fox. I started trapping coyotes the beginning of October, and stuck with it until the end of Feb. 14 of the 36 coyotes came off of one 160 acre farm. I am selling the last 5 we caught tomorrow morning along with 100+ beaver, 20+ coon, and about a dozen fox. I sent all my good fur to NAFA this year and am really glad i did so far.

edited = it was 39 fox, not red fox. I caught a mix of grey fox in that total.

I have heard of people catching that many coyotes off of one area. Why does that happen? Is it a dispersal route? Colored ones?

Red fox - In my opinion, i have several reasons why that farm produced so many coyotes. First of all, that mississippi river borders this property; that will make for a dispersal route. This property also has a very large power line going through the middle of it, which is another dispersal route. Also this property does not get bothered by the hound hunters, because they don't want their hounds on the river. I saw a slight increase in catches when the hound hunters started hunting around this property.

Here is a little intersting tidbit that i thought was unique; the first 7 coyotes off of that property were males. It wasn't until the eighth coyote that a female finally showed herself and she was old. 3 of the 14 coyotes were obvious older adults. The rest were all that season, or previous season pups.

Good enough reason for me to believe. The one here that I was told of the farmer snared 45 coyotes off his farm. The only thing I could think of was the open water of the crick that flowed through his land. The few that I trapped off of farms would go real dead until late winter when new ones would show up. Had been doing well on one area and it just stopped. I asked around and the deer hunters took 6 out of the area about 1/2 mile away. Dave
