well i am leaving friday morning to pick up the hunting partner. I hope every one can make it. The morning should be ok for calling weather but that afternoon looks like the winds will be picking up and getting pretty strong. I wish everyone the best of luck and i can' t wait to kick the season off on a good foot. There should be coyotes in all directions of minot. Feel free to stick around and kick a few beers back with the gang and dont be afraid to introduce yourself. :D See everyone there.

Lets gve a big THANKS to Chris and Levi!!!! I know it takes time to do all the prep stuff so the rest of us can show up and just hunt and have fun.

I'll let them post all the teams results etc...

My wife started the day with me when it was still calm, We had trucks drive across fields on 2 of our 4 sets so the one set that we woke a coyote up and we were just gettting his interest here comes a truck between him and us he just sank back down and after the truck left he was still there but would'nt move, went closer and put some pressure on him but he was gone. THEN the wind started blowing and I struggeld moving 2-3 hundred yards at a time with no luck. The wind was blowing so hard the closed reed call on my neck would start singing on its own  and I chased my hat around alot
Well the last set before dark 30 sec of a bunny call and ones screaming across the pasture stopped at 300 yds and froze I waited him out and still no move then a little lip from me and he headed down wind stopped him around 270 yds and (if I may quote decoy) Bang flop my only coyote of the day... oh ya did get a nice coon on a drive by.

coyotehunter.net Thanks for sponsering the Minot Hunt :D

chris and Levi you guys did it right!!! THANKS
and last of all THANKS to all of you who were there... next year no wind

Thanks to everyone that showed up, a great bunch of guys! I peronally want to thank Jamie, and Tbush without these guys this tournament would of never happened. You guys are class acts guys, and I would hunt and B.S coyotes with you guys any day!

I don't have the exact results, Chris has the official results and pictures!

Chris and myself only hunted till 1:00 p.m we had to get back and get everything organized for check-in. Chris called in a coyote and about 150 yards took the shot and the coyote started doing the spins, he pumped anonther round into the coyote and it rolled down the hill, so he decided to keep calling. He then went to pick up his coyote and it was gone! We looked everywhere and nothing.

Our Second to last stand I decided to use the fox pro since the wind was blowing terrible. Well, the smart guy I am through away my rechargable batteries, and put some cheap one in. I cranked the jack rabbit sound up and only got three distress sounds before I saw the light fading and the sound getting more and more distorted. So as I am shaking the call and palying with the batteries I hear chris start to call to get my attention, he points in the direction of a coyote staring me down. after fumbling with the fox pro, I had to move 180 degrees to get in position, after I am in position I hit my rabbit call and the coyote come flying in. He stoped 150 yards out and pulled the trigger. I head the bullet smack and saw the coyote drop his front shoulder and take off running! I could not believe it! I fired again and smacked him again, his butt went over his head and tumbled down the hill. Chris yells out NICE SHOT! And we both looked and saw the coyote get back on his feet and run faster than before. Needless to say, we could not find that coyote either.

The last stand, we hit alittle cattail slough bottom and 2 minutes into the stand and a red fox pops out. I made damn sure he wasn't going to run off on us.

It was an absolute blast, Its easy to help Jamie out with his tournaments, since he has laid out all the ground work for putting on great tournaments in the past. For those of you that haven't had a chance to hunt a coyotehunter.net tournament, your missing out. Thompson and the Classic are still coming, if you want to hunt these tournaments don't hesitate.

What the heck Levi you should have never got rid of your 223.

That is too bad - it does go to show how tough the coyote is though and stories like that will give you fuel to debate with the guys who want to use a rimfire. That is awesome that you called in a red fox. Can't wait to see the pictures and see the results. Hope you guys had a fun time and a smooth check in with everyone!
