Wow,looks and sounds great Tim!
Gotta love those velocities with those bullets.Should be an awesome performer.I'm a velocity guy and absent sideline considerations, want as much velocity as accuracy allows.
The quote(Jim Carmichel)that best sums it up:
"Gravity, for a fact, causes bullets to fall, and even when accounting for the minor vagaries of aerodynamic lift we can say that all bullets, regardless of caliber,WEIGHT,and forward velocity, fall at the same rate. Thus we have come to understand that bullet drop is a function of TIME,not distance. This,in turn, leads to the understanding that in order for a bullet to have a flat trajectory in relation to horizontal distance,it must make efficient use of the time interval gravity has allotted. But we also have learned that high muzzle velocity alone is not the answer. If a bullet is to make efficient use of its UNIVERSALLY prescribed time intervals,it must RETAIN its velocity."
Heavy, high BC bullets on their own do little.(put a.600 BC 200 grain bullet in a poor, low powder case-45/70,and you have a dog)Heavy well constructed bullets with velocity,RETAINED velocity, are what help.
'Time' bucks wind and drop, not weight. And few companies,if any,are as open about it as Lapua.Their ads often say it all and emphasize their bullets are designed to allow increased pressures and velocities. Here's a couple examples from their ads in the latest Midway catalogue:
"The sleek profile helps maintain velocity at longer ranges, and Lapua's unique Silver jacket coating helps achieve higher muzzle velocities without excessive chamber pressures."
Or, "This construction allows higher chamber pressure and muzzle velocity than traditional full metal jacket bullet construction.Lock base bullets are at their best at long and extra long range shooting BECAUSE of their high muzzle velocity, superior accuracy and FLAT TRAJECTORY they can offer."
Never have understood buying expensive bullets and not using them as the design was intended.Great choice!Look forward to the reports!
