The one on my rifle is 6"x 1 1/2"x 1/2" thick.
Mine is a little on the short side but works well with the BR. size bipod.
To determine what length is needed you should set up youre rifle with the bi-pod you are going to use and try it from a few prone positions and take a measurement from the ground to bottom of stock close to the sling stud which is used to hold or act as a stop for the dog-bone.
Add a inch or two to the measurement you come up with, the dogbone canbe tilted slightly to lower the stock and raise youre point of aim.. If you are a right handed shooter youre left hand willbe used to support the dog-bone and used to make an adjustment... Like mentioned before you can also cut another "V" on the bottom to give more bite.. The slots will have to be cut wide and thick enough to thread a sling through and kept towards each end like mine. Once you have it mounted you don't even know its there..

P.S. I have a few small sheets of material simular to what was used for my dog-bone and if a few guys want one it would just cost you for the price of materieal and shipping...

Isn't a Lapau something you get from Taco bell on Tuesdays for 99cents.

Very interesting sniper show on TV tonite, makes a guy think with all their shots with plain old 3-08's with nato 175 grain rounds, 2550 FPS. Very standard rounds, scopes, and rifles. It wasn't the gun but the training and the discipline. The rifle and the shooter were one.

Exactly Randy.Old Redfields in Nam.
I've got some old sniper buddies who shot/shoot 300 Wins but still basic stuff until recently.I'm going to get a demo of some of the new tech soon(range finding,angle cards,computers,etc)and can hardly wait after seeing all the recent shows on them.Good stuff.

I watched that same show Randy and it was deffinitely more than interesting. There was so much information shared that it was hard to gather. If i would have paid attention i would of recorded it to watch over again. I really paid attention to how the snipers positioned there legs, left hand, and how they used there trigger finger (pad or joint). The Nam snipers didn't have all the fance millidots in there scopes and still made ubelievable shots :shock:

the stock packs are a great investment. They hold a few extra rounds, and they can hold a lot of extra junk.

I like the length of the neck on that 20x47L and the 6mmHLS

What does the HLS stand for?

H.L.S= Hot little sucker..LOL I believe its the intials of the guys that invented it. It was a cartridge disigned and used by BR. shooters before the ppc came out..
The reason for a longer neck was to help the bullet seat straighter and reduce throat wear...

TA

That's a very cool looking rig! Like those B&C bhook stocks- Minus a few subtle details, a virtual twin to a Les Baer Varmint (see photo).

So much for the long range 22 vs 20 argument, anyway.

Thanks.. The stock is a little much for the type of hunting and calling i do but we''ll see how it works outs in a few more weeks.. Dies should be here by the end of this week..

Just for the heck of it i ran some numbers through the JBM calculater to see how the 20x47 compares to my 17 pred and 22-250 ackley..

17 Pred. 30 gr. bullet at 3900 fps 100 yds= 0
200 = -0.7
300 = -2.1
400 = -3.9
500 = -6.2
600 = -9.1 10 mph wind drift 6.4

22-250 ackley 52 gr. A-max 3900fps 100 yds =0
200 =-0.7
300 =-2.1
400 = -4.0
500 = -6.5
600 = -9.6 10 mph wind drift 7.2

20x47L 50 gr, berger 4000 fps. 100yds. =0
200 =-0.6
300 = -1.8
400 = -3.5
500 = -5.5
600 = -7.9 10 mph wind drift 5.5

20x47L 55 gr. berger 3800fps. 100yds =0
200 =-0.6
300 =-1.8
400 =-3.4
500 =-5.2
600 =-7.2 10 mph wind drift 3.8
