Rusty Dies

I've got an old set of .270 reloading dies that were my Dad's when he was in high school and would do some reloading for my Grandpa. They haven't been used in years and now have some rust on them, including the knurling. The inside of the dies is all gunked up with old lube and crap. How should I go about cleaning these dies?

I thought this would be a dead dog story!! I would throw them into a parts washer for a bit or if one is not available then a tin can with some diesel fuel. let them soak awhile and hit them with a brush.

Use some Carb. cleaner to clean gunk off and polish the inside with some fine steel wool and some Flitz polish..

TA did you mean Flitz instead of Fritz? Flitz is some wicked stuff that does a great job on rust. 1shooter your local sporting goods dealer will sell this stuff. It is usually located right by all the gun oils and bore cleaners and comes in a small metallic tube like a toothpaste tube.
