22 mag

After having 3 different 17 HMR's I'm back to the good old 22 WMR (sorry HMR guys but the little 17 just didn't cut it for me).

Assuming some members here play with the 22 mag, I'm wondering what ammo you prefer? Currently I'm running the Cheap Winchester super X 40 grain hollow points but I'm having quite a few mis fires which doesn't go over well with me. I plan on trying some CCI next but couldn't find any of their 40 grain stuff last time I was in town.

What have you guys found to be good, consistent ammo?

Thanks

I have found that they just don't hit as hard as the 22 mag. I wasn't pushing much past 125 yards with my HMR's anyway so the mag is just a better rifle for me. I should clarify that I don't hunt coyotes with rimfires but if presented with a shot I'd feel much more comfortable with a 22 mag than a 17 HMR.

Yep 22 mag. is a better choice.. I find winchester to be the most accurate in my rifle or pistol.. CCI not so good for accuracy in my rifles but still good enough for 100 yds or less. I believe win. also has a better designed bullet IMO...

I shoot the 40 gr. winchesters a lot out of mine. I got rid of the HMR as well. I had fun shooting gongs with it off of the deck after work. I put 700+ rounds through mine, it just was not good with small game. rabbits, squirells......not to happy with the knock down power. I have loved my 597 rem 22 mag. Shot a prairie dog at 213 yards a couple of summers ago. shot some coyotes off of the road. tons of rabbits, prairire dogs, badgers....great caliber. I have shot the CCI 35 gr. but they are spendy.
