.204 LOADS from Walt Berger

Jamie,
I do not think you will be disspointed in the 204 caliber. We had a lot of favorable comments on our 40 grain boat tail bullet last winter as a good coyote bullet. Certainly more knock down power and pelt friendly from what we have been told. Good choice on the Shilen barrel and some load data for the 204 Ruger with our bullets. Still hoping to make your hunt.
AS WITH ALL RELOADING APPROACH THE MAXIMUM LOADS WITH CAUTION AS ALL RIFLES AND RELOADING TECHNIQUES WILL BE DIFFERENT.
Walt

A powder you rarely see mentioned with the 204 is IMR 4320.A friend was experimenting with powders n loads for his n tried some old 4320 we had.Wow!The 35 berger with 29 grains of 4320 is very accurate in my rifle.Running about 3950fps.
Small hole on paper n on yotes.3 this morning. :D
Sweet and rarely in short supply.

I have been using the IMR 3031 with the 35 gr. Flat base Berger for years with great results.

Nope I have not tried that combo....not a fan of the 32 gr. Vmax. Are you using that on coyotes...if so what velocity are you loading at.

Yes, I'm loading it for coyotes. Just got a load developed. 28.3 grns h335. Haven't cronographed it yet. Plan to do that today. Will advise.

It's a Howa Axiom.
I believe the barrel is 20".
1 in 12 twist.
Chronographed at an average
of 3091 fps.
It shot about a dime size group
at 100.

Seems very low velocity. I was getting 4200 fps out of the factory 32 gr. Hornady loads
