first i lightly sand . than wash with warm water and let dry. than i spray on primer, let dry . than a base coat of color of choice (tan). than the gritty paint. it still looks ok but was hoping the grit would stay. now i'm going to try to seal the gritty paint with a spray on polyurithane and see if that helps.one thing about cheap plastic stocks is if you don't like how it turns out, just try something different :)

I was gonna mention the polyurithane but I didnt know if that would cause a reflective glare on it or not. Let us know if that works for you. :D I am glad your experimenting on your rifle so that the kinks are worked out before I try mine. If I ever get the Kahonas to do it. Little nervous about painting my one and only coyote gun.

i don't know if i'd poly that thing. It'll glow in the dark. Try some rattle can matt clear coat and give it 3 quick light coats.

For you guys painting youre rifle stalks if you have access to a heat lamp or a big oven you could use either one to help dry the paint and make it a little more durable. I also use a clear satin laqu. to help seal the paint as well, the stuff i used i believe is mainly used for outdoor furneture...
