AR .223

Post by papapete »

I'm thinking about getting an AR rifle. I am very green when it comes to these guns. What do I need to know? What do I need to stay away from?

Whatever you get, make sure you let your calling partner use it on 1 out of every 4 stands. LOL

coyotehunter, isn't there an outfit out of the Bemidji area that makes these guns?

Papapete I will talk to my cousin and see what he has. He has quite the setup. As you know, my father in law has one too, but he doesn't even know what the hell make or model it is. Nor does he care! :D

DPMS is what your thinking of. Thats what I own and I have not had any problems. If you get one put a JP or Jard trigger in it right away cause the factory one sucks. You could talk with Kevin Kerner on here he is a Rep for DPMS and helps get the rifles for the Classic. Great guy.

I'm using a full custom AR 15 that I built myself.
These guns are easy to build and customize, just about anyone can do it.
DPMS builds a great gun right out of the box if you don't want to build one yourself.
Mine has a DPMS upper reciever, bolt, and bolt carrier, 24 inch kreiger barrel, MEGA Gator lower, rock river trigger, burris Black Diamond scope.
I love this thing!
Stay away from chrome lined barrels, look for a flat top reciever, and floating barrel.

I do not know the name of the gun shop in bemidji, but I know that there is a fellow that builds a bunch of them. Do not know much about the guy though. I do have a good friend that had him build one and he was very happy.
