Alaska Black Bear.

Post by Optimax90 »

Got back this week from my black bear hunt out of witter AK, seen lots of cool stuff. Caught some fish, (halibutt, rockfish, flounder) more shrimp than we could possible eat...... And did end up getting a black bear!!! Wasn't a huge one, but sure was fun!!!

.280 rem, wingin 140gr. TTSX @ just under 3000!! All spot and stalk. Found this one feeding on the side of a mountain, in an area that has ALOT of traffic. In fact the bay we were in had two other boats anchored up in it. One family was tenting on an Island and was grilling and singing songs.... We came in and pull a rabbit right out of the hat :D Climbed up mountain about 1/4 mile and waited him out, he finally came out of the thickest shit i have ever seen, had about a 200yrd shot andtook his wheels out from under him, another shot to put him out and then the work started :D :D Long story on the HAT, but it was christmas that day :D :D

Congrats on the good hunt opti. I think the family grilling and singing songs would have made me barf on my shoes, but the rest of the trip sounds pretty sweet. I hope to see Alaska someday. That picture of the shrimp is incredible.
