5 down...

Post by Jeck »

The forecast looked like a good day for coyote hunting, so I decided to burn a day of vacation. I headed out at first light and hunted all day. I made 10 stands and killed 5 coyotes. Every coyote I called in was a single. I only saw 5 coyotes for the day, but killed every one of them. I should have had 6 if it would have stayed light for 10 more minutes. On my last stand, I killed my final coyote about 20 minutes after sunset. I continued calling after the shot. I had one start to bark at me from behind the hill. I tried to coax him over the hill, but he just continued barking. So, I decided to put the sneak on him. I got to the top of the hill as he continued barking... he was somewhere on the opposite hill. It was 250 yds across, but it was too dark to see him. Oh well, I will try to get him on another day. I can't think of a better way to spend a Monday!
