How to locate?

Post by buckhunter24_7 »

Just wondering what works best when locating? What type of howl , how many howls to use in one spot and how long to wait for a response.

it really can vary on the length of time it takes for a coyote to respond. I would say 2-3 minutes is what I typically wait for if I am in a new area. If I kow they are there I may wait longer and use a recorded group howl and/or a open reed howl after not getting a response with the siren. Some days one works better than another. Generally I will use a siren and wait for 2-3 minutes morning and evenings regardless of the time of year. siren are available of on the internet. prices really vary with the quality. I use a a truck mounted siren and a hand held recorded sound on my digital caller.
