Hello,
Just a few quick notes about some improvements we’ve made to this year’s upcoming events. I have dropped two of the hunts this year. Main reason is that I just find myself spread to thin and unable to devote the time that I need to run these hunts the way that they need to be run. From the point of advertisement to posting results. 5 hunts is good in theory but hard to find all the time to run them. So this is the schedule for the upcoming year (attached).
Williston tournament is a one-day hunts. Blocks will be distributed at the Friday night check in. There is a full Saturday night check in but NO Saturday morning check in. Please refer to the complete rules for details, and write or call for any clarification.
This year’s Mandan, ND hunt will feature a Thursday night rules meeting with blocks distributed at that time. There will be NO Friday morning check in. Friday night will be a call in. There will be NO Saturday morning check in, but there will be a full Saturday night check in. Again, please refer to the complete rules for details, and write or call for any clarification.
The 2014 NDCC in Dickinson will be run the same way as last year’s tournament: Thursday night rules meeting with block distribution; NO Friday morning check in; Friday night will be a call in (special drawing for those who choose to check coyotes in Friday night); NO Saturday morning check in; full Saturday night check in. Once again, please refer to the complete rules for details, and write or call for any clarification.
The changes outlined above will increase distance between participants while allowing competitors more time in the field and less time driving back and forth – so you’ll save money on gas and motels.
Hope to see you all this winter during the upcoming tournament season.
Thanks

CoyoteHunter.net’s 2013-2014 Tournament Dates Finalized with Three Exciting Events

HALLANDALE, FL – In 12 short years, CoyoteHunter.net’s annual tournament series has gained legendary status among the predator hunting community. The 2013 -2014 series dates are set and participants are already submitting entries. This year’s CoyoteHunter.net annual tournament series includes the following events:

Luke Oyloe Memorial Coyote Hunt - October 26th, Williston, ND
Luke Allen Oyloe was tragically killed in 2009 at just 16 years of age. The Luke Oyloe Memorial Coyote Hunt was established to provide an educational scholarship in Oyloe’s name. The event is a one-day contest with a registration fee of $100 per team. A rules meeting and Calcutta Auction will take place at 7:00 p.m. October 25 at the Edgar M. Boyd American Legion Post located at 115 1st Avenue East in Williston. The afternoon check-in will be at 7:00 p.m. October 26 at the same location. Payback will be as follows to the teams with the highest one-day total: 1st 30%, 2nd 25%, 3rd 20%, 4th 15%, and 5th 10%. Additional prizes, likely to include guns and gas cards as in previous years, will also be up for grabs. Last year, for example, more than 10 DPMS Panther Arms AR15s were given away. Cash will be awarded for the largest and smallest coyotes. After the tournament concludes, a scholarship (dollar amount varies from year-to-year based on participation in the tournament) will be awarded. Entrants must be in their senior year at Trinity Christian School in Williston, ND and submit a 1000-word essay on coyote hunting; a five-member panel of judges will select a winner from all entries received. To raise money for the scholarship, the Calcutta Auction will be held on Friday October 25 to auction the teams off to the highest bidder. Participation in the auction is open to all interested parties regardless of whether or not they register to participate in the hunt.

2013 Winter Classic - December 5 – 7, Mandan, ND
The Winter Classic is a two-day contest with a registration fee of $300 per team. The staging area for the event will be the Seven Seas Hotel located at 2611 Old Red Trail in Mandan, ND. On Saturday there will be a check- in at 7:00 p.m. at the hotel. Payback will be as follows to the teams with the highest two-day total: 1st 30%, 2nd 25%, 3rd 20%, 4th 15%, 5th 10%. Cash, plaques and prizes will be awarded to winning teams. Cash will be awarded for the largest and smallest coyotes (100% pay back) and will be paid out each night.

Rules review and a Calcutta Auction will be held at the hotel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9th. Teams will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with a 90% payback to the top three teams. A call-in check-in is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday, January10th; the contact phone number for this check-in will be given out at the rules meeting. The tournament’s final check-in will be at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 at the Quality Inn. Cash, plaques and prizes will be awarded to the teams with the highest two-day total. Payback will be as follows: 1st 25%, 2nd 20%, 3rd 15%, 4th 12%, 5th 8%, 6th 6%, 7th 5%, 8th 4%, 9th 3% & 10th 2%. $10 per series registered team entry fee on a 1 day hunt will go towards the pay out for the points series champions.

$20 per series registered team entry fee on the 2 day hunts will go towards the pay out for the points series champions.

Example: Tom and Bob enter the Minot Predator Hunt (10 points) Tom is the captain of their team, They shoot 4 coyotes (40 points), and they take 2nd place (90 points), total wt. of their coyotes is 120 pounds (120 points) for a total of 260 points. Tom wants to hunt The Luke Oyloe Memorial Hunt but Bob is unable to attend, apparently his sister-in-laws 3rd marriage is more important then hunting coyotes, so Tom picks up a new partner for this hunt. Tom and his new partner Raymond enter the tournament (20 points) which is Tom’s 2nd and he is the captain so he retains the 260 points from the Minot hunt. Tom and Raymond get 1 coyote (10 points) (because Raymond couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat) and that coyote wt. was 24 lbs (24). They do not place but Tom adds another 54 points to his season total. Bob can hunt again with Tom or get a new partner for upcoming hunts. He will have to pay and register if he wants to get into the points series and accumulate points. The intent is for a team to stay together through out the year but does allow for substitutes if you team member can not make it to a hunt. This format has been used in fishing tournament series and though it may not be perfect it will be a place to start.
