A buddy and I took off well before light on a late October Saturday as we normally do. Our first stand looked over a large pasture filled with large brush piles and cattle. Klabo set up down wind about 150 yards from me. The light was just about to peek over the hill so I started to blow on tweety for a half minute. A big white male sat on his ass at 350. I turned the Fury on with my favorite tune and here he came. As he boiled in, another smaller dog busted out of a brush pile 75 yards behind him. Both dogs were heading straight downwind towards Klabo, who was just over a hill from me. I was thinking double for sure and expected some shooting. Nothing. Nothing. Then I saw the white male straight downwind and he caught a nose full. I woofed at him and he stopped, the AR hits it's mark and tipped him over. The other dog headed for cover. I shot 3 times and hit right in front of her which caused her to turn right to Klabo, I heard one shot and he dumped her at 50yds boogying. First stand of the day and 2 dogs down. Great start. The wind started blowing pretty good so we decided to get close to some heavy cover and head to some draws. We called my favorite spot next and almost gave up after 30 minutes and almost out of tunes to play. I turned on a little calf distress and Klabo spotted a nice dog slowly walking to us about 400 yds down the draw. I switched to sqeaking with tweety and squeaked him into 100yds. He tipped right over backwards, wish I had the videocamera on that one! We made a dry stand near some big sloughs I've been hearing multiple dogs in while bowhunting. We made another stand where I was hearing alot of coyotes and have had some luck the years before. We split up along the hillside about 150 apart and I started out using the Fury since the wind was wailing. I saw 3 white specks coming from 3/4 of a mile down the pasture. I was getting excited as they were boiling in and I thought this could be fun but for some reasone they saw something they didn't like, i'm guessing a reflection but they held up at 500. Klabo was closer so after some coaxing and no luck he stopped one as it retreated and shot just under him. 3 for later. By now the wind was howling pretty good but we wanted to try one more before calling it a day. We headed for some more thick brush piles along a hillside out of the wind. Klabo set up on top of the hill and I set up down by the lake. I turned the Fury on with my favorite tune and after 10 minutes of calling, I spotted a dog straight across from Klabo up on the hill. He let me mess with her for a bit to see if I could get her to come down to me hoping another one was behind her but she knew something was up and was getting nervy so Klabo knocked her over at about 150. We called it a day before noon and headed home.

Thanks Bucs! I'm sure it's going to be a tough tournament if they get as much snow as we are. Although if they do come in, it'll be easier shooting as they'll be swimming in snow trying to get away.
