I have been doing some of this . I didn't weigh this one, but I caught several bigger ones. Fantastic fishing in Oahe tailrace, but now it has slowed down. http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g78/c ... G_4361.jpg

I am still learning how to post pictures, so bear with me. I took two of these pictures myself so they didn't come out very good. There was nobody around, so this is the best I could do. For about two weeks , I was really on the bigs ones. The biggest was 10lbs. but some in the 13 and 14lb. class were caught. Just couldn't bang one of those.

Bucks, I'm not sure what you mean, but the last coyote I sold , fetched $28.00 and it was decent. I got one yesterday evening and it was rubbed a little. I left it lay. Not a very good coyote at all. When me and another guy drove into where I wanted to call a mangy old coyote busted out of there. Got set up and used hurt pup right off the bat and had one in our lap right away. I knew there was a coyote hanging out in that area. I told my partner to go downwind of me as the coyote would probably show up downwind and at the bottom of the draw. Well, he didn't go far enough downwind and the coyote. I saw the coyote come over the hill and he had a 150yard shot but didn't take it. The coyote went downwind of him and I knew we were screwed. He winded him and was out of there.
Then we had time for one more call and started out with one lone howl and waited just like the post I made earlier. This time my partner went downwind about two hundred yards. Nothing came for about 20min. Then around the hill came one and I busted him at 150yds. Then I switched over to cat call with my voice. I never had any action, but my partner said another one responded to the cat call , but he didn't get a chance to fire a shot. As usual, the coyote got wind of him. I never saw the coyote as he was on the other side of the hill. My camera was in the truck so I never got a picture. We both walked down to where the coyote lay , and took a look at him. Decided he wasn't worth hauling up the steep hill. He was rubbed a little in the hind quarters. I think there still will be some good coyotes yet though. It was 62deg. here today. Unreal. :? :?

Jerry,
Here's another one from yesterday-a nice one.Bucks loves Sunflower fields so I had this coyote bring him one in case you're wondering about the flower in the mouth.
We were NE of Hoven.

Dcoy, I have to admire Buck for not telling where you guys were hunting. I have been through that area and I always thought that would be a good place to hunt. When I go to Wishek , sometimes I take the back roads. I think Scott Huber used to live around that area. I won't be going to around that area. Love your picture. If you get up around North of Eureka, that looks like pretty good coyote area all the way to Wishek, and there is lots of walk-in areas as you probably know. Good hunting.

DCoy maybe you already know this, there is a sheep man up NE of Hoven always has coyotes, watch out for the rocks, I've left a few marks on some of them. Nice country, let me know if you need some more contacts.

Hey how the hell do you get that long rifle in the pickup, you must have to leave the barrel out the window!!!LOL

OK,thanks Randy!
As to the rifle, well it's an old 243 made back in the day when a shilen barrel,Mcmillan stock, trued 700 action could be put together for under a grand.Shoots much better than I can but started life already 'tall' at 26 inches on the barrel alone so when the suppressor is added you do have case and truck issues.
Almost as bad is when you sling it and are walking you have to watch out for clearance on phone lines, underpasses and so on.
I thought about lopping off a few inches but it shoots too good and I just don't have the balls to take a chance on losing that.I've suggested Bucks should become my gun bearer and start calling me 'bwana' but so far no luck.
