PLEASE REVIEW RULES, SOME CHANGES THIS YEAR.

Coyotehunter.net will be holding the largest 2-day coyote hunting tournament in the Upper Midwest at the Quality Inn in Dickinson, North Dakota, 12th – 14th January 2012. We would like to get you involved with this annual event. This hunting tournament is a two-day contest, $250 entry per team, (see rules for details). Last years participants will have an opportunity to register before 15Sept11, after that date this tournament will be open to everyone. If you did not hunt last year and would like to register, do so on line, your team will be entered based on your registration date if the 50 team max. is not met by 15Sept11. Once the tournament maximum of 50 teams has been met your team can request a 100% refund or remain on a cancellation list. See rules for check-in times and location. Cash, plaques, and prizes will be awarded to the teams with the highest two-day total. Payback will be as follows: 1st 25%, 2nd 20%, 3rd 15%, 4th 12%, 5th 8%, 6th 6%, 7th 5%, 8th 4%, 9th 3% & 10th 2%. Thursday night, the 12th of January at the Quality Inn, we will also be holding a Calcutta and auctioning off teams to the highest bidder (90% payback to the top 3 teams). Cash will be awarded for the largest and smallest coyotes (100% pay back) and will be paid out each night. All rules will be strongly enforced. At least one member of each team should be in attendance at the rules meeting January 12th, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Over $16,000 dollars in cash and prizes was awarded last year at this one of a kind event.

10th NDCC RULES
1. Entry will be limited to 50 two-man teams. Entry fee shall be $250 per team. 13-14 Jan 2012. Payback will be as follows: 1st 25%, 2nd 20%, 3rd 15%, 4th 12%, 5th 8%, 6th 6%, 7th 5%, 8th 4%, 9th 3% & 10th 2%. All cancellations will be subject to a $100 charge and will be refunded with in 4 weeks of cancellation. Cancellations after the 01Jan12 will not be refunded. We expect to reach our 50 team max and will not hold a spot without payment

2. Largest coyote ($15) and smallest coyote ($15) weights will be taken at check in. (100% payback). Cash paid each night for largest and smallest coyote shot that day.

3. Coyotes must be taken at least 50 ft. from any vehicle.

4. $20 from each entry will be put towards the Coyote Classic Tournament Series payout.

5. Use of a Snowmobile, airplane, helicopter, Para plane, and/or ultra light to locate and/or chase coyotes will not be allowed. Use by either a team or by someone on behalf of a tournament participant will result in immediate removal from the tournament and will be banded from all future tournaments that Coyotehunter.net is associated with.

6. Coyotes can be taken with any center fire cartridge, and/or shotgun.
7. No more than two persons per team. One vehicle only.

8. Core temperatures will be taken from all coyotes at check-in. Coyotes will be disallowed if temperature and time do not match.

9. The night before the tournament blocks will be distributed. A block will be placed in each coyote’s mouth immediately upon retrieval. The block must have the team number and time of day marked clearly on the tag. Bands will be provided to place around the coyote’s mouth (top & bottom) to secure the block. THE BLOCK MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY AND BANDED IN THE COYOTES MOUTH. ANY COYOTE TURNED IN WITHOUT A PROPERLY FILLED OUT BLOCK (SEQUENCE NUMBER, TEMPERATURE, TEAM NUMBER) BANDED IN THE COYOTES MOUTH WILL BE DISALLOWED. Coyotes must be exposed to the outdoors. Coyotes cannot be placed in plastic bags, enclosed boxes, or stored inside a vehicle. This makes it impossible to get consistent core temps if these standards are not followed by everyone. NO EXEPTIONS.

10. We will be picking 5 teams at random by number to be mediators, with 5 additional teams as alternates prior to the start of the tournament. In the case a team with any coyotes that are disqualified during the check-ins, the team/s with the rule infraction will have an opportunity—after check-in on Saturday—to request a review by their peers. The review will be of the facts as they pertain to the coyotes in question. One member of each of the five teams will have a vote, and the majority vote will be the final ruling. The team that requests the review will have to pay an additional $75 upon that request. This $75 will be refunded back in the event the ruling in question is overturned, If the ruling stands, the $75 will be forfeited by the team who requested the review. This is not an opportunity to re-write rules, but an opportunity to an impartial review of the facts. NOTE: Rule 22 is not reviewable, and is only enforceable by the tournament director.

11. All applicable licenses must be in your possession at time of tournament. If you are hunting without a state furbearers license or applicable tribal license, local authorities may be notified and you will be disqualified from the tournament.

12. All entrants must be present and available to answer questions at evening check-ins. All Entrants Must be available upon request to subject themselves to a Polygraph test. _____________ Int. ______________ Int.

13. No live decoys and /or dogs. (No running coyotes with dogs.)

14. No baiting.

15. All ties will be broken by check-in times of 2nd day.

16. Mouth call, hand calls and electronic calls can be used.

17. No pooling of coyotes between teams.

18. Check-in times are strongly enforced and it is the participant’s responsibility to get with a tournament official to log your check-in time. 1st day (6:00pm), 2nd day (6:00pm) (Mountain time)

19. You have to locate and call your own coyotes. You cannot have a second team or individual out scouting for you.

20. All coyotes that are checked in will be inspected and will be donated to the tournament. This is to help cover the costs of the event.

21. Calcutta Auction: You can buy your own team for $200. If you do not choose to buy your team prior to the start of the Calcutta, your team will be available for open bidding to be purchased by the highest bidder. Bids start at $50. (90% payback)

22. Sportsmanship. Any team—upon the sole discretion of the tournament director—that shows a lack of consideration for other teams, the rules, or is just being an all-around asshole, will be refunded their entry fee and asked to leave. If it is determined that any team or team member who—in the past—has a history of questionable actions, coyotes, behavior, etc., that is deemed detrimental to the enjoyment of the tournament by others, they will be banned from entering the tournament. No team has an inherent right to hunt tournaments sponsored, promoted or officiated by Coyotehunter.net, and Coyotehunter.net reserves the right to refuse entry to any team or team member who has displayed the above-mentioned unsportsmanship-like behavior.

The rules are set out for the benefit of all participants to ensure everyone has equal opportunity for a great hunt and a chance at winning the tournament. Each coyote will be examined at check in, and all rules will be strongly enforced. Core temperatures, time of kill, and sequence will be checked on all coyotes checked-in. Properly filled out blocks are imperative. We will have a large pool of coyotes to compare temperatures and times with- you should expect your coyotes to fall within those ranges. If you check in a coyote that does not fall within those ranges, the tournament officials will have sole discretion of disallowing the coyote in question. Violating the tournament rules or the laws of the state can lead to that teams removal from the tournament and depending on the situation, the local authorities may be notified. If you have a snowmobile and are considering entering the tournament just to run the coyotes down, I would suggest you do not spend your money on the entry fee. There are several tournaments available to hunt in that do not have rules and/or do not enforce the ones that they do have. This is not one of those tournaments. Trapping, snaring, live trapping, shooting coyotes the night before, shooting them from a vehicle, having another team or individual locating coyotes, or trying to take a coyote in any way that would jeopardize the integrity of the tournament will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the tournament immediately. Anything questionable will be up to the discretion of the tournament official to determine if a coyote will be allowed or disallowed. It is the burden of the tournament participant to follow the rules and to turn in coyotes that do not appear to be taken outside of what is allowed by the rules. Meaning, that if your team turns in 4 coyotes that two of them are blocked incorrectly based on times and temps. The ones in question will be disallowed. If you turn in a bunch of coyotes that are all shot in the hind quarters with a shot gun, with dry bladders and empty colon, you may have a problem convincing anyone they where taken legally. The tournament officials do not need to see you in the act, and explaining what happened will not help if every indication points towards you running them down with a snowmobile. I would rather have one team mad because of an honest mistake than all the other teams upset because I did not enforce what would appear to be an obvious rule infraction. The burden is on the hunter to prove that the coyote was taken as per tournament rules- not the officials.

Let me get this straight - we are going to be getting the blocks on thursday night after the rules meeting, and friday night after check ins? We will then be allowed all night to drive, locate, etc etc?

Yep, more time to get were you need to go, less driving, maybe for some one less motel room. Should be able to have more time to locate and spend less money doing it.

blocks the night before :( So it wasn't working the way it was????? I think its a poor choice of rule changes, you just lost control of the starting time

it was a real handicap to anyone not from that area. also the expense of the back tracking. the blocks and core temps will continue to be and have always been the way we have used to verify when a coyote was shot. Not the start time. Anyone in the past could have gone out the night before and shot a coyote. Turned it in at the end of the day during the evening checkins. The blocks (times and sequence) and core temps. have been in place to prevent that from happening. We will still be using this along with 10 years of tournament check in experience, 30+ tournaments we have run, and hundreds and hundreds of coyotes checked in through this process. I am very confident of our ability to run a fair hunt.

Book your rooms as soon as you can. The Quality Inn as a block of rooms for us just tell them you are in the Coyote Classic. I think the block closes at the end of the month and then it is going to be pretty tough to find a room in Dickinson.
