2007-2008 Fur Prices

Post by LeviM »

Just wondering what the outlook is for fur prices this coming up season. I heard they might be alittle higher than last year. Just wondering if anyone has any inside scoop.

Hey levi try the little website i attached its what the North American Fur Association is predicting. It doesn't have the prices but it has a general outlook for the demand.

Good. I still have hides I didn't sell last year. Hopefully they go right away this year to the buyer.

It sure would be great if the fur coat was the in thing yet. I would like the prices to get to the point where i can make enough money back so that i come out about even. then i can purchase some new toys. Why does everything that is fun cost so dang much money.

I guess you never know what to believe, but from what I heard is that in the russia area last year they had really warm temps and that affected the fur buying. it doesn't seem like that would have that big of impact but that is what I heard from one article.

What has everyone that has sold furs so far been getting for price.

I have not sold any yet, but I talked to the guy at the Fur House in Downer, MN and he said he expected coyotes to be down this year about 5 dollars per hide from last year. He thought averaging around 30 dollars/coyote for nice ones. He did say that coon and badger were going to be up from last year though.

I am probably heading to the buyer over Christmas break to sell some fur.

I started putting up my fur and haven't sold any like that yet. I am sure I will be disappointed with what I get for the time I put into them. I guess as I get faster that will change!

Every year I hear that the prices will be down. Can you imagine your buyer starting out the conversation by saying he is paying top dollar for coyote hides. It always seems that no matter what furbearer I have to sell, that I do not have the one he is really trying to get.

I talked to Larry Schultz, just west of watford city, he's buying coyotes for 10-15. I think i will just hang onto my hides for a later year. Or actually i think i'm going to have a coulpe of them tanned for myself
