Re: Perks of being single.
you dont need to be single to do that, I am always washing traps in the dishwasher every year! LOL Just dont leave them overnight in the dishwasher, then the wife gets alittle upset when there is rust all over the racks! Boiling traps on the stove, I will admit you got me there the wife would frown on that. So thats why I got a propane heater, and during the summer drink beer outside while watching my traps boil.
I do have one question where do you hang your traps once removed from the dye?

I "rescued" one of those fold up garment hanger racks from the dumpster. The kind for hanging clothes on to drip dry.LeviM wrote:

Put a contractor bag down underneath it to protect the floor. Works well for one or two dozen traps at a time.

They have them on sale at Cabelas right now. I just wonder what kind of fuel economy they get.

barebackjack thosse will work for the job, but i use a double burner like a smaller camp stove. I put 10 gallons of water in a tub and let her go till boil. For economy side of things, the propane will be much cheaper than that electric you are using right now (correct me if it is not an electric range). A quick hint that i forgot to mention was that when you guys wash your traps in the dishwasher make sure the chains do not rattle loose and get down into the wand of the dishwasher It makes a big bang and ust doesn't soung good Yes this has happened to me

I should pick up a propane burner one of these days. Tough doing stuff like that under the scrutiny of apartment life.
Already had the cops out once this winter when someone reported the "psycho" with frozen coyotes stacked up like cord wood in his garage.
Oh yeah, snare cable makes an aweful racket if it falls through the dishwasher rack too!

for washing a bunch of traps, the pressure washer at the car wash works great. the engine degreaser is some potent stuff. the turkey fryer works like a champ. I have used the bigger set ups, the propane branding torch and a 50 gallen drum is fast. You can dye a pile of traps at one time with that set up.

I use the "weed burner" and a BIG pot but it takes up a lot of room and you can't do it in the kitchen!! Does a lot fast though
