Had some luck on a fenceline snare tonight. I set it 2 nights ago and checked it from about 1000 yards away with the bino's. He got a front leg through it and proceeded to dig a huge hole and ruined it for future sets. Oh well big male down, now we'll work for momma and the kids.

Thats the only reason I saw him. I was glassing the fence line and saw dirt flying up like there was a badger digging.LeviM wrote:nice pics! He was really busy digging hole, LOL

Any advice on how to keep them from getting that front leg through on a fence set? Thats the third one that has been alive when I got there.

Re: Summer Dog
well I typed a great response and then lost my internet connection. lost the whole thing................Lots of variables. I run Hundreds of fence snares, they can side step the loop and stick a foot in. The snare loop can partially colapse and you end up with a small loop at the bottom of the go under, they will stick their foot in on the approach (I have caught both front and hind legs over the years). they can be digging at the hole and catch a foot. Hard to say with out seeing your set up.

Thanks CH,
After I wrote the question I thought, Just be happy there was a coyote in it. I'm not good enough to be picky about how they get caught.

Re: Summer Dog
It will help to get the bottom of the loop off of the ground 1-2 inches. But a lot of things can happen it's not perfect.
