Re: .204 or .22-250 for coyotes
A great many 22 cal bullets exist that exceed the listed BC of the 55 grain Berger 20cal. There are also a great many 22 wildcats that will push them right along. Are they necessary? No. But they are a really big can of whoop-ass, and that's why I use them.

So am I correct in assuming that you have shot a number of coyotes in that 400-500 yard range with the .204 to make that statement. There is no (honest) disagreement that a rifle that shoots bullet weights from 32-40 grains with BCs exceeding .20 at rates of 3900-4200fps isn't more than needed to snuff a coyote under 500 yards with authority

i was thinking about a 20 cal of some disign and still may do it.i sure wish sierra bullets would come out with something in a gameking soft point in about 45 grain. that should be a great coyote bullet

[quote="Coyotehunter"]I have a custom .204 and .22-.250 AI.............I love both guns. I would not hesitate a 500 yard shot at a coyote with the .250 but would not consider it a option with the .204.
Well...after seeing this shot at 502 yards in the wind, this video might change some opinions for anybody that has doubts to the .204's long range dog hunting capabilities. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn4X25ZjJKE

I have been toying aroung the Idea of a .204 for a fur gun under 250yds but don't know crap about them.... Guess there is a major difference in opion on them I sure do like that 700 pilgrim is selling if he still is getting rid of it. If I wasn't planning a spring black bear hunt that thing would be mine!

The 20x47 L is still a virgin, but will get its turn if I can just put my 17 Pred down..Tim Anderson wrote:

Bnbears, you could look into the Tactical.20. It is a .223 shortened a hair and necked down to the .204. I have used this rifle 8 yrs or so now, will do another T.20 in xbolt when I start making money again, this one is a Medallian a-bolt, Browning, just love the short bolt throw and detatchable magazine. I like the Berger 35gr and 40 gr, but prefer the Nosler 40gr for coyotes, real decent fur rifle.

If 204, think hard on a CZ527. Nothing like it for shooting long distances.

Your responses seem to imply that you know the maximum effective ranges of just about everything so this should be easy for you to answer:
In dead coyote terms, please list the MERs for .17REM, .204, & .22-250 and summarize the objective standard you're working from. Thanks in advance.
To Opti: I still have the 700. I'm all about seven zero zero too, but...
