Coyote Trapping 2012

Post by EO caller »

Thought I was losing it. Two checks with nothing but badgers, Chew outs, power outs, equipment failure,(ie:chain on drag broke). Even had one chew out and pop off right as I was driving up and couldn't get it shot. But it all turned around today. Had 8 coyotes caught. Took some pics with the cell phone, will try to get some posted tomorrow. Best one day catch I've ever had. Seriosly though I was about to post a whole shit load of traps on the swap forum for real cheap.

For some reason this is the only one I can get to load. I'll try later tonight.

It wasn't trap check day yesterday, but six coyotes gave their lives to further fill my fur room. Neighbor was out elk hunting and just happened by alot of bouncing fur.

Finally found the camera. Been so freakin busy havn't been taking very many pictures but here is a few. Set my first ones the weekend of October 8th. Caught #26 tonight. Its been rolling right along. Still hoping to hit my goal of 60 by December. Got a little over fifty traps out. Its been alot of work, hopefully its rewarding.

My resets are starting to hit now. The only thing I don't like about disposable stakes is I can't move to the outside of the catch circle very well. Thats were I like to make my reset on flat sets. But it seems to be OK. I set up one little butte right behind a guys house. Had a great little crossing and a berm that ran around the edge of the butte. Stuck three traps in the good looking spots. He told me the coyotes were all coming in around that butte but I never found any decent sign. First check all three were bouncing with coyotes. Next check two out of three. Should have set 6 traps.

Hind sight is always 20/20 fella!! Great job on picking up a triple and then a double :D Have you thought about running a slide wire to get them away from your set? I have a few out this year, but haven't gotten any to connect yet

Never tried that. Havn't even seen a set up like that. When you catch one make sure to put some pictures up.
