Sorry guys you took my reply the wrong way. And sorry coyoterhunter I have your profile mixed up with someone else I guess.

I simply meant I was going to experiment a little. Maybe I didn't say it very well. I have learned several new things talking with you guys that I have not had the need or opportunity before. So, don't be offended, don't start digging in your spurs yet, I have already started using several of your ideas over the last couple weeks. I put smiley faces on the post so you would know I was funnin.

I haven't had a chance to get to a shooting area the last few days so hopefully this week I can try my concoction.

Yes the 224 clark that was the one I was trying to think of. What I remember reading said it was a straight 6mm necked down. I may be wrong. :D

Thanks guys

Sorry Chris I didn't mean the go private thing that way. I just didn't want to occupy others time unnessasarily, ever how you spell that.

The 257 Roberts is the parent case of the 224 Clark which is one of the largest 22 centerfires.. Designed to shoot heavey bullets fast and flat and if a chrome molly barrel is used you can exspect to get the same round count down the barrel as a 22-250 or 220 swift...

52 gr. bullet with a max vel. of 4300 fps

70 gr. 3880 fps

80 gr. 3600 fps.

Yep, you got it Tim. My info came from Wildcat Cartridges by Wolfe Publishing.

Hornady BTHP gave excellent results in the 10 twist. I now have it in a 9 twist and started shooting the 69 gr sierra BTHP

Just curious why the change from the 68 hornady to the 69 sierra? Any issues with the hornady?

I have been happy with the hornady's 52 grainers & I have always wondered about how their 68 grain would work on coyotes out of a 9 twist 250 @ 3300 fps or so. Also, how do you think the 68 would perform on game at about 3150 out of a 223 AI? Is that enough horsepower to get them to open up at extended ranges?

Thanks.

I shot those 68 gr. BTHP Hornady's for years @ 3350 fps with great results.
