Bought an AR a while back and now thinking about what to do with my .223 bolt gun since I don't really need two .223's. I have a .243 so I have the larger end of the spectrum covered but I would like to have something a bit smaller that is great on fur but flatter shooting than the .223, I'm thinking something .17cal, that .17-204 of Dave's sounds like that cats a$$ so I'm kinda thinking about heading that direction. The gun I would be using is a Savage model 111 long action. I have no experience whatsoever with putting a rifle together and would appreciate any tips or suggestions that you guys could give me. I'm not dead set on any caliber either so suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

A 17 cal. sounds like a good idea but I would stay away from the long savage action..

Re: Suggestions?
if you have a long action I would go with one of the the many .22 wildcats. if you pick up a short action then the .17 or the .204 would be fun options. I love my .204 and have not shot the .17 much at all since I had it built.
