when to end the season

Post by kodiak_vs »

Just wondering when a good time to quit woudl be. Still seeing lots of yotes during the week running around. We only hunt on saturdays, and i will call alone during the week a f ew times. Some groups around here are gonna quit after this weekend. Thoughts or anyting would be nice. Had a ok year so far, shot 15 yotes and 7 fox.

Well I guess thats a personal thing.
As to fox in Mn,we used to quit at the end of the month.Mud,water, etc made it tough but the main reason was that females were just too easy/vulnerable for us then.Over the winter we'd have likely found 20-30 plus dens.In march,on sunny days, snow or no snow, you simply could kill female after female(pregnant of course)sleeping in the sun at those spots. We chose not to.

Thanxs for the advice. I guess im not in it for the fur that much i guess. Its just fun to shoot them. There are way to many in the area. So i might hunt for a few more weeks. We have been getting about half of the yotes with mange as well.

If your not doing it for the fur then i would just hunt them to hunt them and make the local farmers happy. If you are getting a lot of mangy ones just keep piling them up cause that needs to get taken care of

This will probably be one of my last weekends. I might make a few efforts in the mornings here and there, the fur is rubbing pretty bad from what I have heard.
