Re: Coyotehunter
Great point coyotehunter there is a lot of things that you can pick up from the female when she comes in.
Looking over her shoulder at the den
Really getting aggressive if the dogs work a certain way (toward the den)
Or just where she is tring to lead the dogs (away from the den)
The longer a guy can let the dogs work with the coyote without missing your oppurtunity to kill it the better

Re: Coyotehunter
Jamie have you ever tried that doggin technique in minnesota or other states? I am curious on if its effectiveness would be the same in different states and different terrains.

Re: Coyotehunter
Dogging will work anywhere there is coyotes although it gets a little tougher in the trees i had a problem pair last year that i could get to come and look at the dogs in the timber and then leave. I was finally able to get the dog shot working the dogs but the female is denned up there again this year.

I have used the dogs in Minnesota and North Dakota. For summer work you can't beat a good dog.

If the female get nervous, will she eventually move her pups to a different den?Prairie Ghost wrote:Great point coyotehunter there is a lot of things that you can pick up from the female when she comes in.

Re: Coyotehunter
Without a doubt that means you have to take into effect that if you can't get her killed you need to do more research before you go after her because if you don't get her killed you have to start all over after she moves them

Re: Coyotehunter
doing some calling up in the mountains
running some snares, looks like a great place to catch some cats, take a look at those pinch points where the river, trees and ridge meet up.
