Lyonch trapping 08

Post by lyonch »

Here are some of the critters i got this year. Things just haven't been cooperating lately and it seem slike there is little game movement lately!!!

Nice boar from bucket set.

Nice boar from dirt hole set.

Nice bobtailed boar caught on a flat set.

Bib boar from a bucket set. I set him next to the bucket in the second pic to show how big he was. I check every night so there is no bloating. The bucket is a standard 3gallon square bucket.

A quick pic of what i have on the stretchers at the moment.

Here are last nights check pics. The 2 raccoon and one of the skunks were caught in a 220 conibear that were set in trail sets.

Here is a female fox pup.

yeah that is my first red :D Jamie remember when i told you that i spotted a fox that was watching me make my set; well i can't say for sure she is the one, but that is the set that i caught the fox in. Yeah i removed the glands from the skunks. It is a lot easier to do than what most people make it out to be. If you take your time and cut the glands out right away they skin really fast!! The glands went into the freezer and i will extract the essence on a windy day so that i can be upwind of the gland when i extract it. I caught another skunk tonight and did the same thing to her! they seem like they will be really easy to put up too. I will be willing to do a video of the skunk gland extraction process if i can find a way to videotape it and get it on the web

instead of going through the process of removing the glands, wouldn't it be easier to leave the glands attached, and take a syringe and extract the essence?

Nice skinning setup. Did you make that yourself? I was thinking of somethinglike that.

Hey great job :D its cool to see someone like yourself get into it with the passion you seem to have and also Levi. I've done skunks both ways and removal of the glands is best as if you extract them they still seem to leak some  and if you need to wash them? "skunk off" stuff they make to wash dogs etc works good, and I have a mixture that also works good if I can round it up i'll post it
