Hey fellas,

I am changing out stocks on my custom 700 .308 from its H.S. Precision stock with the aluminum bedding block to a very cool looking Boyds thumbhole and need to know the pros and cons of glass versus pillar bedding. Accuracy being most important but what are some of the other reasons to do it one way or the other, or not even change it at all. Ideas guys?

If the stock is made of wood then its pillar bedding along with glass.. Other stocks get just glass bedding and if a lite weight stock is used then a block is added for strength and keep stock from flexing..

I am gonna do both glass and pillars to get the best of both worlds. from my research, which agrees with what you both have said, both ways is the way to go. and the stock is a Boyds wood thumbhole.

they do feel good and look cool but i hate all the extra thumb movement to turn the safety off. I guess I guy can reach up with his trigger finger.......
