The "Eyes" have it

Post by Coyotehunter »

Have you had a chance to read the article in Predator Xtreme by Charles R. Shawley, PH.D. about what a coyote sees?

It talks about coyote eyesight, like what colors they are able to see and how it effects your camo and set up.

Then in the next two issues they are going to continue it by showing what a coyote would see at your stand and compare some of the camo brands I guess.

I took a look at the pics but just have heard so much BS and arguing about what they can see that it really doesn't interest me all that much. A camo that breaks up your outline is all that you should be looking for a lot of coyotes have been killed with no camo at all.

Coyotehunter you bring up a good point on the snare issue thats might be something to look into more. Was there something in the article pertaining to snares? I could see where it could come into play with a unpainted snare but with a painted? I will have to look up the article to read is so i'm a little more informed on the subject.

There was an interview done by Predator Talk Cast in relation to this topic. I bielieve it was the same individual who wrote "The Eyes have it" for predator extreme is the individual who is being interviewed (Charles Shawley). It is episode 8 in the previous episodes. Here is a quick link to it.

I don't place much stock in articles like that one. Hunters and trappers with over twenty years of field experience are a better judge of what a coyote sees than any book learned college graduate. Just my personal opinion.

I hear ya Rich but there may be some useful info there. I spray paint my trail snares, this year I pulled the light blues (sage) out and added green instead. Will see what happens on refusals this winter.
