Target Turrets
Just wondering how many of you have scopes with target turrets and how many of you use them or do you just guess and hold over on coyotes that hang up.
I would rather have a slow hit than a fast miss...

I have them on my .22-6mm, and just have found that it is quicker to know your hold over on your duplex than try and make the MOA adjustment as a coyote is out in front of you with the turrets. I picked up a Leupold 4x12 with Mil Dots a couple of months ago and have not taken the time to get it screwed onto a gun.

i just use my good eye to judge the distance and lick my finger and stick in the air to get the wind speed and direct ion, then i pull a Ted Nugent when hes in my sights and pray about the mistical flight of the bullet and let her fly. I have onyl used them when somebody had one when i went to shoot prairie dogs. the are nice. thre was an advertisement on the outdoor channel the other day that had wind and distance judgement lines on it for smaller caliber guns like the 223 and 22250 i think that it could be very deadly if you learn how to shoot one. When i hunt with levi i am always forced to take running shots

I was talking with Steve Wald the gunsmith here and I have them on my Nikon and he asked if I use them or guess and I usually guess but he said he will give me a hand figuring out my ballistics on my loads and if he has time he will go to the range and help me understand them better and get mine set up for my loads. Then when they hang up out there he said just dial it up and kill the bastards. He says its real easy once you undrstand it. He shoots 1000 yard competion and holds the state record so who better to learn from. I have noticed he doesn't seem to be real secretive about what he knows and is real eagar to help a guy out. I stopped back over there tonight and I am having him put a tactical style bolt handle on my swift. This will help with faster and smoother follow up shots
