I thought it was Larry's brother, but didn't want to say so, I wasn't sure. His lion is pretty nice though. intimidating but very cool.

Very cool! I used to stop and buy my MT licenses every year at scenic great sports store for a town the size of Williston.

I was hunting with Larry a number of years ago and met a buddy of his, Dave Kellyhouse. retired Alaskan state director of Game and Fish. Great guy. I spent a few days driving around with him talking about alaskan wolves. I learned alot.

BISMARCK — A second mountain lion has been killed this fall in western North Dakota.

State Game and Fish Department biologist Stephanie Tucker says the cat was killed Saturday by a hunter in Billings County who was looking for elk.

The mountain lion season will close in the western part of the state when the quota of eight cats are killed. The rest of the state has no limit.

The season runs through March. The first cougar killed was reported last month, east of Watford City.

Tucker said the mountain lion killed Saturday was a 133-pound male cat ranging in age from a year to 2½ years old.

Third mountain lion was killed west of Mandaree. It is a 1 to 1 1/2 year old 98lb male. Here is his story.

"Ok, I would really love to have this great story and have Tim write it out being such a good writer he is, but not much to this except luck. I was out working driving my normal route and was coming outta a location when something caught my eye. Looked over and seen a lion sitting on a little hill side. Realizing I did not have a gun, I drove the 6 or so miles back home and grabbed my gun. That was the longest 6 mile trip I have ever had, praying the whole way back that he was still there. Got back to spot and parked pickup behind hill and snuck up hillside and he was still sitting there. One shot with the .270 WSM and he was down for the count at a whopping 50 yards. That was when the excitement struck, I was shaking and still a little leary of going to get him. Unsure if he dropped or what, but I called my dad and went for him. He was lying right there. Man them things are heavy and awkward to carry out. Thankfully it was not in the rough badlands stuff but up top of a draw."

That would be tough to keep the cross hairs steady at 50 yards.

Whats the soonest that the quota has ever been reached? It seems like every year it fills faster and faster.

A good indication that the quota should probably be raised
