You maked some good points Randy. We have kinda gotten away from just having a simple fun time gathering to a serious competition. It doesn't matter what kind of tournament a person puts on. There is always got to be a certain percent that finds a way to bend the rules in his favor. The rules coyotehunter has gives the average guy a little encouragement and chance of winning somthing. Personally, I can go hunting anytime I want , and when I want. I never did really like participating in these tournaments , but I really like going and talking to all the guys and listening to the stories. I still think it is just a small percentage and most of the guys love participating and re-newing friendships . Pershaps maybe we should have an early hunt or gathering and just hunt a coyote or two and spend a few days sitting around a camp-fire and shooting the breeze. I wished I could make all the contest in North Dakota, but it just isn't possible. Coyotehunter runs good tournaments . Him and all his helpers need to be commended. We can't give in to the tree-huggers and this is just one way to support our hunting friends.

First off, sorry for getting this post riled up, all I was getting at in my first response to the post was that an empty bladder or colon doesn't solely determine that a coyote was chased down and killed. IMO
Also, I do hunt a few tournaments in my area, and would someday like to get to a coyotehunter.net tourney, and the reasons I hunt them is to see old faces and all the bs and comaraderie(sp), that goes with being a predator hunter. The $$ issue is what makes these things difficult, and what I have read on this site, sounds like you guys do a great job policing iffy behavior, and I commend you for that.
Like Jerry said, a day of calling, a campfire, some cold ones, and a whole lot of stories would be the ultimate.

Good Hunting!!

I see where they drop some poop when on the run after bumping a coyote. My dog even drops some when I walk her, I won't let her stop  Some is lost when they die as would happen when we die. Some coyote only pause long enough to pee, then back to a run. Most trapped animals are peed out, maybe half shot ones are still holding some.

has anyone taken the time to read the rules?? No were does it say in the rules anything about bladders and colons. In the letter at the end there is a scenario given "If you turn in all your coyotes shot in the ass with a shot gun with dry bladdders and empty colons you may have trouble convincing someone you shot them legally." Rule #11 allows you an oppurunity to explain it if indeed those coyotes are rejected. the key phrase is "all your coyotes shot in the ass with a shotgun" Nobody is dumb enough to think that we would reject a coyote that has a empty colon or bladder. the scenario was that they were all shot from behind with a shotgun. shotgunning coyotes on the call is a close up deal with most shots in the head and chest. Not the ass. I probably have inspected 1000 coyotes over the years at tournaments. close to 250 last year alone and I have never seen a single coyote rejected solely on a empty bladder and or colon. We have exactly 2 rules concerning the inspection of a coyote and 1 rule which allows you for an oppurtunity to explain the situation to other participants if you have a coyote in question. not 1000 or even 10 rules are needed. blocking and temps. the number of coyotes that have been rejected over the years is barely worth even talking about. the most common mistake is check in times and failure to correctly block the coyotes. We have a outstanding group of guys who hunt our tournaments.

even in humans when someone dies their muscles relax & things are let go. its natural. so i would expect that after an animal of any sorts when they die they would have the same issue. good to be back.
