With christmas break finally ending Marty And I got in some more coyote calling action.. But before I get into the good Calling end of things Ill give the the rundown on the whitetail hunt.!

Archery season is winding down so Marty decided he better tag up!. He arrowed this nice whitetail Late one evening.. He backed out and we were able to recover it the following A.M.. The Rage expandable did the job big time. The deer went less than 100 yards and hit the ground dead..

I told Marty we were just wasting time and needed to get after the coyotes!. And that we did ..

It was a very nice heavy 5x5.. Good job Marty.. But I know you would rather hunt coyotes anyways right?!!!






Ok, time for the fun stuff!. After the recovery of the whitetail we decided to head to a new area and make a few calls. Our 1st stand had Marty watching the backdoor, which was a wooded section. With Myself and Jason watching a wide open field.

I start off with my secret sound and immediately Marty fires THREE gun shots. Im thinking sweet!.. I switch to some distress sounds And Marty once again fires.. I pause.. Switch to my secret sound, only to hear marty shoot twice more!. wow. six gun shots. He better have something down!..

Jason and I had coyotes coming in on our side of the field, It was just Martys ridiculous amount of shooting had them a bit spooked.. ..

We meet up with Marty and he informs us he has 4 coyotes down! a quad!. sweet.. Does it get any better folks?

We also picked up a coyote on the way into the stand, which made 5!..

I love it..



We made one more stand and Had 2 coyotes come to the call but didnt like something. We ended the day making 2 stands and taking 5 coyotes.. Not to shabby.. But wait.. It gets better...

Day 2 - The forcast was calling for very high winds, with snow. Definaltey not the best conditions. But call we Did!.

After a few dry stands We decide to set up in a heavyily wooded area and try to call them in close.. I set up in the woods with the foxpro while Marty watched a wide open field to my North..

five minutes in to calling I hear Martys gun. I keep calling but nothing shows. I meet up with him and soon see the unlucky coyote. 220 yards, right in the throat!. Martys on a roll..



We keep calling But are having a tough time, The last stand we once again set up overlookin a wide open area. 5 minutes in 3 coyotes emerge from different directions. As it always seems to happen one dog got way ahead of the others.. At 50 yards I decided he better die. I whirled my gun and took a crack.. Two dogs in 15+ winds.. you cant complain about that...

Well I thought I had to be on my way out the door, but I have time for part 2.. Here it goes..

Marty and I met up with a few buddys early the next morning and head on a nice jont to some new grounds. Our 1st few set ups draw nothing.

We then decided to head into some hills and try a stand.

After a decent walk in we are set up overlooking some rolling hills with brush intermingled throughout. I start out with my secret sound and then hit some rabbit blues.

I decided to pan the hillside and suddenly spot a coyote bombing into the ravine, I lip squeak Marty and let him know about our little visitor. The coyote emerges from the cooley, yet this time he has 2 of his little friends on his heels.. 3 coyotes!

The lead male comes first and I let him get in nice and close. At 50 yards I settle the crosshairs on his head and fire. Marty shoots a split second after My shot and we have 2 dogs down.

The third coyote escaped our gunfire, But we were happy with our double.. We havent messed up any of these in a loong time.



We then decide to head down the road and try our 4th stand. Marty watches the back door While We watched the open ground to the North..

Ten minutes in Marty fires, A coyote charges out in front of us and does not last, He also bites the dust. It turns out Marty had saw 5 coyotes in all!. I guess it pays to Watch the back..

Another Double.



2 stands later we set up in a wooded bottom overlooking some open real estate.. 5 minutes in a coyote emerges coming slow. I do my best to slowly coax him, and he is liking it.. All the sudden jason imforms me of a coyote that had backdoored us! (Marty why were you not there!) . The coyote starts slipping away but it was to late. Thats 5 dogs.!



The late was fading fast with time for 1 more spot. Six would be a good number to end on!..

We booked it into a final stand And I hit the call ASAP.. As light fades A BEAUTIFUL coyote emerges from the shadows. Every time I called he would stop.. Every time I stopped he would book it in!.. At 150 Dinner was cut short..

13 dogs in 2 and a half days.. Good times..

when does the slaughtering end Great job guys and dont stop until they are all dead Looks like mitch is going to get some visitors before he expects them

All I can say is YOU GUYS ROCK........O and Very nice Whitetail. Congrats to you guys. You guys are gonna make the coyotes go on the endangered species list around that area.

critr, not to worry to much, were actually not hunting our area much, were traveling pretty long distances to call.. quite a few people call coyotes around here. We do what we have to do to find the dogs. .. do your homework boys
