Hello and welcome to the site. If your new I would take the time to read all the information on this site. There is TONS of valuable info on here to help anyone become a better hunter.
Regarding your question about going with an E-caller I would hold off personally if your new to the sport and not sure if your going to like it, I personally think there is a time and a place for Hand calls and a time and a place for an E-call. But in my opionion if your wanting a great hand call that aint gonna set you way back I would go with the Crit'R Call Song Dog Howler. They are available on this web site through the online store for $19.00. And it comes with a very good book that kind of walks you through the different ways to make the proper sounds with that call. Its a call that you can do it all with. Mouse, any kind of distress pretty much, Howls, Challenge, Whimpers, you name it you can probably do it on that call. If you get into it and really like it then ya I would go with an E-caller after you get into the game a little more.
But like I said there is HOURS AND HOURS of very usefull information to read that will help you on this site. Good luck and Have Fun. Let us know how you do with your adventures.

If your new to coyote hunting, stick with a cheap hand call and go blow away. I dont want to discourage you from an ecaller but they are not cheap, and if you find that you are not intrested after a year or two you will have an expensive call collecting dust.

don't know where your from but if your going the e-caller route and hunt wide open areas, don't buy a cheap caller. you'll spend more money on a good one but it will be worth it. if hunting smaller parcels and wooded area, a cheaper caller may get you by.

Go to the online store and buy a cheap Critr call and get after it. Once you get bitten by the bug you can start talking about spending some money for some of the other things that come in handy.

Tactics..........common question............big misconception that coyotes are some how different in nature from state to state. The biggest pice of advice I can give you if you really want to get better at killing coyotes is to find a pair of coyotes and spend some time hunting them. pattern, scout, watch and listen. Have a goal when you go out. You will not learn much just driving around to every county in your state hopeing to bump into one. Scout, Scout, Scout. This is hunting and coyotes are not an easy animal to figure out but they do have some bad habits that will allow you to get a shot.
