I go back to the ranchers that wanted help this morning.Walk in while dark and get set up.In the dim light I see movement a few hundred yards away but quickly realize its cattle.He was going to call when he moved them there but probably forgot.Trying to decide if I should leave when I hear a 4 wheeler coming.Fast.Its one of the hands and as its getting light he slowly circles the bunch checking on them I assume.
Now I'm certain i should leave but then think,'man,he came out here fast and anything in those ravines might have just hunkered down til he left'.I decide to wait 15 minutes after he leaves.Just about to pop in the bipod legs when I see something coming down the ravine I'm sitting by.Wiley coyote!At about 175 yds-bang,flop.
Luck?Smart?Maybe a little of both.Maybe getting old and lazy pd off for once since a few years back I'd have run out of there to get somewhere else.

Why leave? Any animal in the area is probably use to him being around and checking cattle around that time. I have learned that first hand in a tournament. Levi and i set up and right when we began to call the farmer started his music in the barn and started driving the tractor around and hollering at cattle and the dog. I could hear the radio way better than levis call. We looked at each other about ten minutes into the stand and thought what the hell are we doing nothing is going to come We got back to the truck and get in and drive about a 100 yards down the road and i spotted a pair hauling ass to the direction of our location across the field well they saw the truck and gone Lesson learned right there

yep the coyotes are probably pretty use to the rancher.
