What does everyone do during the off season?
Hi everyone I haven't posted in awhile it's been busy around here! Just wanted to get to know everyone a little better. Do you guys have any other bad habits other than coyote hunting? During the off season I play a lot of golf, fish, coach my kids sports teams and am a very active volunteer fireman. I am a maint. supervisor for the Nebraska Dept. of Roads and after hours I pour concrete and do masonary work. Let me know what everyone is up to. I am going on a fishing trip for week in June up in Hunsley's country. Take care everyone and have a good spring and summer!!!!
Coyote fever gotta love it! Go Huskers!!!!!

Hunt, Trap and snare coyotes
I used to play a lot of golf but once i had kids and wasn't able to play at least four days a week i lost ambition due to not playing to my potential due to lack of practice.

I love hunting turkeys, getting the fishing poles out and chase walleyes!! I try to get out and golf every once in awhile but like everything else its so damn expensive! I watch a lot of coyote hunting videos and this year I am doing alot of reading on coyotes! Pretty much saving up gas money for next years tournaments!!!

I shoot gophers for a few weeks and then its mostly work. On week-ends i spend time locateing coyotes for next season and getting permission to hunt the areas i find them in. I will also be out looking for more areas to call coons and scoutting new areas for them as well.. Also do load testing and developement on var.'s guns i use and some for the Smith's customers...

Any luck with calling coon?? I always wanted to float the Red Red or Goose River back home and give it a try. I guess we did it one night while driving the boat back after checking traps and got one. Never a night of calling though.

I started calling coon last fall for the first time dureing day-lite hr.s. I have a relative that owns some river bottom land with alot of big den trees. Find a hole and set up the electric caller either in front of tree or behind. Call for 5 min. if nothing shows then move on to the next. Other good places is farm steads, brush piles, culverts and sweet corn fields..

Re: What does everyone do during the off season?
This year I am starting to get into learning the gun more....wind drift, ballistics at various ranges, range estimation, and the like. Other than that it is just read, watch videos, plan for the next year. I hope to get out and shoot more this summer than previous summers.
I agree the coon calling would be fun to get into. I need to find a use for that 22 mag I bought last fall.

Re: What does everyone do during the off season?
My summer consist of fishing, golfing, a little hunting and some filming. Hope to have some video to put on here. Randy and I want to give the decoy dogs some work. I should never complain about the cold and wet weather but it has slowed my golfing down a little. Just too cold for this ole fella. It has been a much welcomed rain this Spring and things are looking up. Now if we can just get the gas prices down , it would be great. That is getting totally out of hand. It is rediculous!! Greed, that is all it is and the middle class people are getting burned.
