Thank a Vet

Post by Dcoy »

As some may recall, last year a group of friends and i took 20 Iraq and/or Afghanistan veterans fishing in Canada for 3 days with all expenses paid.(Lyonch on here has a good friend with serious war related disabilities who attended)We wanted to do it again this year but with the economy we were having trouble fund raising. That is until last night.Last night we had an 'auction' of donated items on a popular musky fishing website and raised over $17,000.Yes,$17,000!All systems are now 'GO' and its definitely on for late June.
Thought you might be interested in seeing a clip on a vet who will be attending this year.

These guys deserve our support.Consider helping a Vet any way you can. There are countless ways to do it.(Pilgrim on here visits Vets once a week in a VA facility)I'm also taking a few duck hunting this Fall.I'm sure there are plenty Vets out there that would love to go on a coyote hunt.Something to think about at least and clips like this make one realize what they are doing for us each and every day.God bless them!

The vets that are involved with this project are more than just a vet. The vet that i know has cheated death and should not even be alive. I know that i have put my time and efforts in helping him out any way that i can. If you get a chance take some time to sit down and talk to them. What Dcoy and fellow friends are doing for the vets are more than appreciated. There is no price that someone can put on these vets disabilities. They risked there life to save yours, and almost lost theres in the process. My hats off to you Dcoy for putting on an event with fellow friends that i know Adam has not stopped talking about since last years

i had nothing to do with the event that Dcoy put on. That was all him and his fellow partners in crime on that one. I just know an individual who attended the event last year and can't stop talking about it. My friend Adam hunts and fishes almost every day. He doesn't let his injuries and handicaps effect his spirit and drive to push forward and catch that next muskie or decoy in that final goose of the day :D I really wanna get him out coyote hunting in the dakotas and get him addicted to another sport

Well more good news.Mills Fleet Farm Stores stepped up and made a major $$ contribution to our event as well.In addition they are also donating some fishing goodies to the Vets.No wonder i love their Stores!Consider doing Vets a favor by shopping there-and thanking them. :D

i took a neighbor out today he's been to iraq 2wice and has to go back to kosovo soon. he was a 50 cal. gunner and has seen some pretty grusome stuff. anyway i don't know him real well but i did some remodeling on his house a bit. anyway, i called a buddy up this morning to go coyote hunting but he had other plans so i was getting ready to go myself when i remembered Decoys post. i called up me neighbor and he jumped at the chance. he's never hunted before and did'nt have a license but i said he could come with as a spectator. did'nt see much today 2 fox and 1 had severe mange so i put him out of his misery. i can't believe he has lived this winter with as much hair that was gone. anyway, he did get to dust a few pigions and some mud chunks at quite a distance. he shot my gun better than me  we were only out for 5 hours but he had a great time and said to call him anytime we could do it again. he was fun to take out and really enjoyd his company and stories.

A couple Op Muskie pics from last year.Lyonchs friend Adam on the right getting ready to head out for the day.A great guy-and tough dude! His partner that day(camo shorts)was another tough dude-a recon Ranger if memory serves.

Second pic of Adam(only 2 I have of him myself I'm sorry to say)shows his 'good' arm.I'm very privileged to know him.

This pic was a sad day-they were just leaving.Right behind Adam with just a part of his head and belly showing is another one of the worlds greatest-Frank Walsh who along with his wife Laura, donated their total resort free of charge for this 'Operation'.
