Looks like you all are going to get another bunch of snow etc. Hang in there, feel proud of how your communities are banding together and helping each other out. Tough bunch of people here in the Dakotas, good people!!! There is always someone who has it worse even on our worst day!!!

the river level is going down now but still at record levels. lets all hope the dikes hold out. i wish the whole country could see the massive effort this whole community put in to help out. schools closed to send students out, employer's letting off employees with pay to help out, people showing up from out of the area/state to help out. it is all very humbleing. really makes me proud of the class of people we have living in this part or the u.s.it's gonna be a huge economic impact to this area but so far few compaints. a good friend of mine has hardly slept in 4 days tring to kkeep his pumps going and he's 72 years old (tough son's a bitch).i called him last night and his only compaint was he had to bring his yellow lab in the house because the barn is flooded. here he is putting his dog in the canoe and paddling out his yard to the cattle pen where there is a dry straw mound so the dog can releive himself. and haveing to break ice to get there.he is totally surrounded by deep water yet has generators in his house funning 3 pumps in his basement i,ve been out of work for over a week and the way it sounds i cant start anytime soon because its a basement remodeling job and the guy lives near the river and is fighting his own battle. . p.s lets start a relief effort fund, send CASH to "bucksnbears beer fund"

The river level is slowly going down, but there is still alot of pressure on the dikes. Sounds like we could get up to 14" of new snow with 40+mph winds. The wind will put alot of pressure on the dikes.

I heard on the radio this morning that there were over 3 million sand bags put up by the residents and helpers in a weeeks time That is just an amazing number!!! The mississippi has hit some really high levels but to my knoweldge there has been minimal house damage in my area. I hope all get out of this ok in the red river valley and the community can go back to living there normal lives!

I thought we were ground zero for this blizzard-again.Unfortunately for NoDak,it appears to be shifting north a bit.Horrible NE winds here now that I hope aren't roiling up the River near Fargo.That can't be good for the dikes.
The only bright spot as I gas up the tractor and hunker down for a couple days?Mailman just delivered the new Varmint Hunter magazine.Perfect timing for me.

he just delivered the wifes home n garden i was out on saturday for a drive in the country and all i seen was a few deer. no fox,coyotes,rabbits. i can't imagine where they are at. the flood of 97 had the railroad tracks between moorhead and shelly loaded with amimals as that was the only dry land available. let's hope this storm miss'sus here we don't need any more precipitaion.

I'll be damned.Great.It starts on p 136.Coyotehunters article has some great pics of the Heids and the Bertolottos but god there's a horrible,scary pic of some 'low life'types in Chris's article.Wonder how many cameras blew up trying to get a pic of those guys?

Thanks for the compliments Randy!! I dont know how jamie and brad do it. The jobs they have require so much of there time and yet they still find time for the site and there family!!

Ive been on active duty with the guard since day one for the flood.

Gotta say im IMPRESSED with the people overall, especially the college students. Kids from NDSU, Concordia, etc came back from spring break to a weeks worth of cancelled classes and could have said screw it and went for another week, but they didnt. NDSU students volunteered 16,000 man hours making 2.5 million sandbags and building miles upon miles of dikes. If it wasnt for the college kids, the graveyard shift at sandbag central never would have been able to stockpile the bags it did for the next days operations.

I was in New Orleans after Katrina as well, give me 10 Nodakers over 1000 Louisianans ANY day!

Just goes to show you what a community can do with some hard work.
