WANTED: Fur Hunters

Post by Dcoy »

Here's a new one,at least for me.Just had a call from a township supervisor saying the Warden would be out later today to issue my special hunting permit. For a second my mind processed all sorts of juicy, dreamy thoughts then I asked,'what kind of special license'? 'Well, for muskrats of course' was the answer.
Muskrats?Yes.I had been busy and gone a lot cause of illness in the family and wasn't aware of the serious problem the very high water is causing with rats.I knew they were all over-in the yard,on the roads etc but had missed the headlines in the local paper, the emergency township and county highway meetings, the Game,Fish,Parks state meetings etc.Turns out that in serious high water they get displaced like other flood victims.Unfortunately many then burrow into road banks and that is causing failures all over.Strange but true.
Anyway,I'm one of our township designated shooters I guess.A waste and a shame but.....???? :(

LOve that muskrat shooting but haven't had any for years, one year my wife and I shot close to 300 in one day,got .25 cents each but ya gotta shoot them in the head. Its a great work out for the dog, steady drills, blinds, with lots of retrieving, my old yellow dog at that time got scares all over his muzzle he would swim out to a rat grab it and it would latch on to his face and when he got to shore it was rock and roll time  Please send some our way :D :D

Terry,
Would love to send some!Actually starting to treat it like an invasion.I even bought a new lil 22 to throw in the old Jeep pickup as a 'bang around'
gun.
I'll attach a pic of my neighbor trying it out.

Not sure really. Its called an 'AM180 adaptor'.Maybe its just an 'upper' that one can add on a black rifle.Do a search under 'AM180 Sub machinegun' and hang on.
Here's the 'drum'version.(there may be an actual 180 version and an 'adapter' version, not sure.)
