What's on your mind?

Post by Pilgrim »

Limited to the subject of coyote hunting, what's on your mind this time of year?

For me, just two things:

1) NEW RIFLE: Been thinking often about owning a CZ Kevlar in .204. Difficult for me to resist. The only condition would be that I sell my 700 in .204. The 700 is only a year old and a great rifle but would be like having two noses.

2) SNOWSHOES: I have a friend who builds and sells Iverson snowshoes. The Ojibwa and Alaskan versions sell new for $279 and do-it-yourself kits are $139. Talked to him this morning and offered to find 5 or more Coyote Hunters willing to go in on a group order and discount. One thought for this limited run would be to create white snowshoes by mixing white paint with the urathane prior to finishing. I'll post something in the approaching weeks depending on interest. I like the kit pricing, by the way and/or one guy could do all of them and be paid for the trouble.

Trying to shoot, shoot, and shoot some more! Never enough time in the summer!!! I am hoping to customize my scope yet, and purchase a good range finder.

Then theres trapping, scouting, finding more land, waxing, dying, drying dirt, the list never ends!!!

Finish building my house and then have a funeral (getting married what a stupid idea that is), then shoot till i run out of bullets and powder. Then die traps and scout for trapping. Where will my sets be. What locations am i going to hunt this fall in the tournaments. I could run out of words in a post from the honey due list too

be carefull about shooting all your ammo. supplies are still hard to get. i've been trying to get primers for 4-5 months to know avail. for me, getting in my fall food-plots, getting bait lined up for bear (last year went through about 2 tons of pasteries), getting caught up on work so i have time to hunt this fall. i've been very busy building decks and remodeling this summer, . pilgrim, i'd be very interested in a pair of shoes so count me in. i bought a pair last winter after the kenmare tourney but they are to loud for sneaking on coyotes so i want a wood pair. let me know how much $$ you need

I've been getting plenty of shooting practice in and can't wait for Nov. to come around..
I sit in a Excavater all day and have plenty of things to think about to help pass the time, most of my thoughts turn towards coyotes... i think about the stands i made last year and what i should improve on or do different ...For hunting gear i'm pretty much good to go and the only things i can think of that i need yet is another CAM mount for a 30mm scope and some powder for the Pred.

There was a time when the summer was for golf and getting ready for the upcoming fur season but now it's my bussiest season chasing renegade livestock killers around.

Also i often think about when the heat will go away and the fall temps will be here!

BnB do you really need primers bad?? I can check in the st. cloud area. the st. cloud scheels has been doing a really good job lately of keeping things in stock. is there a specific brand and model that you want to stick with? Also i will take my primers to the grave with me. I have about 800 left with about 300 round loaded so im good to go for at least this season i hope. I dont worry about the sex part there is something better that comes along every fall called coyote hunting. The rush and feeling of calling one in is way better anyhow  I need to get this damn house done so i can get my fur shed all lined up and get some more gongs made and get a bench on the front porch to shoot out to my custom 500 yard range :D I have a lot of shit to do before the beginning of october

I remember a time when shooting a coyote was better than sex! LOL Now it had better have some livestock under it's belt and being a little squirelly before i rank it that high. Sounds like some of you need to get better at one or the other ( sex or killing coyotes) i just don't know which one?

Chris I think you just need to worry about pulling the goalie and make sure when you shoot for the open net you make it count!
