Summer Coyote hunting

Post by Optimax90 »

I guess I wanted to know the feeling and veiws on hunting yote in the summer, (this time of year). I know the fur aint worth a darn but, what is the differance between hunting them or having a goverment trapper/hunter kill them?? I have been out a couple times this month, and I've been feeling bad about the fur that i'm "waisting".

We have been taking the skulls to clean up and bleach-out, kinda cool having different size skulls around. And the landowners place that we have been hunting is very happy to see them go. I have been taking some crap from a couple buddies about "waisting" fur and taking them before they can.

On a side note I get my new Leica 900 Rangefinder today :D

That is a personal choice if your state allows it. Hunt them if you want to but don't make the decision on somebody elses view.

When i was strictly a recreational/fur hunter i used a self imposed season of the first weekend in October until March 15th but that was just me.

Ditto to what brad said!!! Again it is all personal preference. If you wanna hunt them in the summer/spring feel free to do so. No one here is going to harrass you for shooting a coyote that is not during fur season. As long as your state laws allow the taking of a coyote suring the given time season.

Thanks guys: I just got back into coyote hunting last year, and I'm hardcore hooked again!! Upgraded rifles, reloading like crazy and shooting (trying to anyway) 3 days a week.

All i want to do is chase them around the state (ND.) I have only been out about 6 trips in the last two months, but I'm finally caught up at work and can bug out when ever I want to. This weekend looks like cooler weather, thinking of taking my 7-year old nephew out, the kid is crazy for hunting, never been coyote hunting, and I'm scared of what it might do to him!
