SNOWSHOES- Super deal!

I have a friend who makes Iverson Snowshoes in Minneapolis. His shop is 9 blocks from my office.

Went over to the shop and picked up an Iverson Ojibwa kit for under $100. Consider the Ojibwa and Alaskan sell new for $290. My friend said he'll extend the deal to you fellows for around $99 per set + $15 or so for shipping, whatever size you want. Dcoy and TBush both use the Iverson Alaskan. If you're considering owning the top-of-the-line hunting snowshoes, Alaskans or Ojibwas are it!

I am going to put mine together this week and will photograph and describe the process as I go. Mine, by the way, will be white-painted ash frames with white nylon webbing, then finished with water-based urathane so they'll be snow white when complete.

The big question to Dcoy & TBush is:

Would a Coyote Hunter be crazy NOT to buy at least one pair for $99?

Let me know if interested. I know BucksNBears wanted a set of Alaskans.

I'm pretty sure that's what one of my grandmothers meant when she claimed that people would try to take advantage of my good nature.

Maybe I'll build you a pair of Ojibwas and trade for one of your Alaskan sets? Best of both worlds.

I used Kilz oil primer until I ran out plus whatever brand (can) in the photo.

For normal people (who don't paint their snowshoes), the first step is lacing the tails.

Ojibwa shoes have front and rear tails that require the exact same lacing pattern on all 4 sections. Keep in mind that mine ar 48" and yours are 54" so require one more series along the frames.

them really look awesome!!!!!!!. thanks for the advice. now i hope Denise can do them for me i don't know much about these but seems it was a very fair price i better stay away from the schmidt light while lacing them

See #1,then #2, get to #3 and things should start clicking along or have your wife look over your shoulder until she can't resist and takes control.

I don't drink but when I was lacing mine up I wished I were drinking beers. The mental routine reminded me of tying trout & bass flies, draining bottles of Old Milwaukee, Hank Jr's Greatest Hits... Beer will help!

The lacing I used is tubular nylon. Other common materials are neoprene and rawhide. I used nylon because it's white, Greg says it's the stuff to use, and 1.5 pounds less per pair is significant. It also laces outside the ash frame so there are no holes anywhere in the frame structure. One thing I'll add is I'm pretty impressed with the lacing now that it's all finished- the varnish coating of the frames and lacing is soft/ flexible (not hard/brittle), strong and smooth. Like a thin rubber, so quiet.

The unique tubular nylon lacing that we call "TechDeck" is immensely strong (1400# per strand!), light (1.5 pounds less per pair than neoprene!) and durable resists abrasion, won't stretch, sag or be gnawed upon!. All our snowshoe kits and finished snowshoes are laced with TechDeck. In over 30 years of sales we know of no failures in our lacing material.

Another benefit to this nylon lacing is it makes for the ideal coyote drag. It's ironed flat so a slip knot stays in place.

I'm also wondering if there isn't larger diameter white tubular nylon the could be cut in lengths to fit over a barrel for camo???

My most recent NRA mag issue had a neat photo essay on bunnies/ beagles where the hunters were toting Iverson shoes. Maybe I'll do a photo essay type 'snowshoe' article for a coyote mag once we get some snow on the ground for action photos?
