Just wanted to share my weekend experience.
Wanted to quickly share my opening weekend of deer hunting with you guys. I have been hunting coyotes for little less than a year now and have been trying to fill my head with as much info that I can to better pursue them while working with my calls throughout the year. Well over the weekend I finally came across my first two yotes on our property. I knew they were there as my dad has taken a couple with traps and has taken one with his bow. On Saturday I had to fix one of my stands and me and my dads friend proceeded thru the woods and he stops me on the trail and tells me to look, of course Im looking for a deer up ahead but don’t see any, and he points again and there on the trail laid a dead female yote. We looked at her and it appeared someone got her with a shotgun, there were 3 holes in her (neck, low vitals, and high middle of back). She had been there maybe two days. Still good to see that they are around the area. Well yesterday I was in my treestand and the morning was cool and little to no wind. I pondered using my fawn distress call to see if I could bring in a coyote. Finally it got the best of me and I got it out of my pocket and called with a soft bawl and did that three times within a min. I put the call back in my pocket and reached for my bow which was laying on my legs, I glance to my left and here he came on a good pace down a trail about 40yds out. I was shocked to see him come in so fast. He continued down the trail and behind me and got within 3yds of my tree I was in. I tried to glance over my right shoulder to see where he was going to go and when I could get my bow up for a chance to shoot. That never happened. He spotted me instantly thru the tree limbs behind me and bolted down another trail and was gone. I know its not a kill story but for me it’s a success in that Im starting to piece things together and I have more confidence now as the season goes on to kill me some coyotes. I have told myself that Im going to go out this year deer hunting with my coyote calls and try early in the morning or late evening to see if I can coax one in. Im taking a step in the right direction. Just wished I had a shotgun with me yesterday. lol

Quaker Boy Fawn Distress call. Got my hands on it the nite before and put it to good use the next morning.
