Gear?

I am new to this and just wanted to know what I need for gear.

a gun, binoculars, mouth call, and some land to hunt on that holds coyotes

Don't forget camo pants, coat, gloves, hat, facemask, . Somthing soft to sit on is also handy. Don't want to get the "monkey butt". Its bad news . Shooting sticks or bipods for your rifle are a good tool, might as well bring a shot gun, case you get a real charger .Don't forget a camera, otherwise when you tell sombody about the triple you called in and killed they might not believe you....Second thought better make it a video camera, then your going to need a tripod. If you don't want those down winders to smell ya you might get some cover scent, Fox piss, Bobcat piss somthing like that. .
Acually all you need is bino's, a gun, a mouth call and some ground with coyotes on it. You don't want to look like me .

Rangefinder always helps, but don't waste your money on cheap crap. Save your money and buy a Leica

Sometimes simpler is better, don't need all the bells a whistels. One of my dad buddies recently bought about $4000.00 in gear, including a new gun. And has been out 4 trips for a total of 17 stands, and seen one coyote. And from the way he told me what happened, I would say he bumped him on the way in and the coyote got the better of him
The sales guy talked him into a Fox Pro fury! said it was the best on the market and guarenteed to call coyotes Not saying it isn't a good caller, but sometimes even tha best caller can't make up for a crappy set-up

Im with Levi on this, patience. Picking up a good book or two and/or a couple DVD's to help with set ups, calling, etc will get you going in the right direction too.

I watched a video this weekend that i really wish i saw when i first started out. I had to learn everything he teaches you in 4 hours on my own in the field and on my time. The video is called "calling coyotes like the pros" with Darrell Holland. He teaches you camo, set up, how to call, what to look for when coming into an area, how to read sign, and many others that a new coyote hunter should know. This is not a coyote coming to the call on everystand video. It is 100% informational with an occassional kill scene to emphasis his points. I highly recomment this to any new coyote hunter.

Ya i've heard that he is a hell of a gunsmith also! A couple year waiting list to get a gun though.
