Two Way Radios
I think there may be a thread on here about this but has anyone used the Garmin Rino 530HCx I am thinking about ordering a pair.
I would rather have a slow hit than a fast miss...

Re: Two Way Radios
Thanks coyotehunter I had hunted last year with a couple guys that used them and they proved valuable but just wondered if anyone else used them.

we use Midlands (not sure about the model) They work pretty good, they got there time and place! They work really good, when you spilt up from your partner, then you can stay in contact with eachother

Levi I have the midlands to and yes they work good but with the Garmin not only can you keep in touch with one another you can GPS locate your partner and know exactly where he is. Would work good I think for those sneaky dogs

GPS would be pretty sweet, it would be nice to see where you partner is, and keep an eye on him to make sure hes not taking a nap
Whats the price tag on these 2-ways Daryl? I am assuming they are not cheap

Looking at around 800 for a pair of the 530HCx I think I am going to order a set and give them a try.

Re: Two Way Radios
Well I did buy a pair of these Garmin RIno 530 Hcx radios. I hope to put them to the test here this fall. I also just ordered the new Desert Shadow covered Howa Axiom in .22-250 and man am I pumped. I own a couple Howa's now that are standard barrel and shoot awesome so I am excited for this heavy barreled rig. I will keep you up to date on how well the radios work and how the Axiom shoots.

Re: Two Way Radios
I got a question for you guys that ARE using voice activated mics. When you blow on a mouth call does that transmit to your partner thru the mic? I would sure think it would and cannot decide if that would be a good thing or not. A loud call could blow up the mic and if the call bleeds thru into the mic, I would think it would irk the guy on the other end.
Whats everyones experiences on this?
Thanks,
Jaybic

Re: Two Way Radios
We have tried the voice activated ones and they didn't perform well for us. They didn't seem to pick up the whispers when trying to be quiet. We now use the PTT versions and they work awesome. For us anyways..
