Dreaded 'V' disease

Post by Dcoy »

Hi.Been experimenting with 'scent','scent free'clothes,as 'scent free' as I deer hunt with anyway, and all I'm coming up with is the 'V' disease. That affliction that shows the 'V' of yote ears sticking up over yonder hill downwind whether its 100 or 300 yds away. The disease strikes pain in your heart and you know the gig is up.You usually discover it that last swing with your binocs before calling it quits on a stand.I think its the yote way of giving you the finger.
I hunt alone 99% of the time and its often impossible to adequately access and hunt an area while 'covering' down wind completely but the disease has hit me so hard the last few days I'm going to concede you CAN'T avoid it and one needs to hunt the wind or get sick.
If anyone has found any other cure, please let me know.

There is no way to completely fool the nose of those down-wind coyotes, but placing an electronic caller cross-wind of your chosen hidey hole can help you a lot. I like to place the caller out there at least fifty yards if conditions permit.

If the landscape allows, I like to leave as much wide open space as I can down wind. Crank that scope up and be ready for some long shootin.

How about 'gesture'?

The ole dreaded 'v-disease' already has a very well-established, universal connotation.
