craziness! 8 coyotes die. story monday :)

Holy!!! WOW! that is a hell of a weekend boys way to go!

We went back out this morning, Saturday. On the first call we were in the same place we knocked the three down last weekend. We used the same calling sequence. Several howled and barked, but no coyotes showed. We went to the second spot where we shot the double. The same calling sequence and coyotes were coming out of the woodwork, but only one came close enough after 45 minutes of jacking with all of them. One finally commited. Mitch dumped him at about 100 yards because I was videoing and I didn't want him to get below the bank where I would lose the shot on video. Mitch hit the Ki-ya and commenced to drag three more off a hill side about 1/2 a mile out. They started to come hard and were about 800 yards out and a bunch of coyotes starting howlilng in the hills. Then two of them turned and took off. One kept coming until another coyote howled on the ridge. We could see them in the horizon. That dog took off after them. We pulled up and headed for the spot on the ice where we took the five. Going in we saw one laying on the ice. We tried to get out of the pick-up and call him in. A different coyote starting coming down toward us. Since we were running late getting to Mitch's basketball game, we pulled a rookie move. We tried to call him within 250 with the pick-up in sight, he was coming hard and stopped and I ranged him at 390. Dumb move. We educated another one. We still made one more call at the spot where we took five the first day and the double the second day. When I was taking a number 2. LOL Walking in we bumped one. We sat for 10 minutes and then really needed to haul rear to the basketball game. Mitch's team won the game.

We are going to go out tomorrow, Sunday, morning to try bust a few. We will give it one more try before my vacation.

Marty are these areas usually producing these kind of coyote numbers in years past or is it unuasual for you to be seeing this many in those spots? That just seems like higher densities then i can remember when i use to hunt that area.
