10ga Loads
Posted this in the reloading forum also. Interested in what load would be suggested for my 10ga Browning. Would buy ammo off the shelf or would look into reloading also. Just want this gun deadly past the 50yrds that it patterns now. Anything you have would help, Thanks.

Re: 10ga Loads
Look at Federal buckshot in #4 buck. I load my own and am working on the 80 -100 yard range.

Re: 10ga Loads
You mite contact Nitro about what they recommend for your Browning. There mainstay is Turkey loads but they have a lot of other offerings as well as custom loadings. Here is a link to there site http://www.nitrocompany.com/ammunition.htm

Re: 10ga Loads
Take every lead I can right now. Thanks Ozarks. With the excellent development of the 12ga in 3.5 (guns and ammo) it makes it difficult to find versitile loads for the 10ga. I'll just keep listening and the whole trial and error thing for now.

Re: 10ga Loads
Have you considered trying Hevi Shot "Dead Coyote"? It's available in both #4 Buck and 00 Buck. A Patternmaster choke tube might be a good option as well.

Re: 10ga Loads
Yes, I have considered both and would love to try both, but can't find it in a factory load in 10ga. I believe that I would have to reload it. Do you know where it could be purchased? Would also like to hear first hand on the Patternmaster before I drop some change on it.

Re: 10ga Loads
I have triede several choke combinations with the dead coyote load (3" T-shot). The best combo i cam up with, was carlsons dead coyote choke tube with the load mentioned before. I never thought carlsons would nail it on the head, but it was night and day difference in the amounts of pellets in a 10" circle from all the yardages.

Re: 10ga Loads
I'm not sure where you'd find factory loaded "Dead Coyote" for 10ga. I know there are some loads available from Hevi Shot as they list them on the website, although it some searching to find them.
It would most likely be more cost efficient to handload your own if you can find the pellets. As for Patternmaster choke tubes, they're very effective at shrinking patterns. I use them for everything from birdshot to buckshot, and they produce some very nice groupings out to 40 yards and beyond. I've never had a reason to stretch it beyond that range though, so you'd have to find out for yourself what kind of pattern densities you could expect at 70 and 80 yards.
