Headed out west

Post by jaybic »

Hey fellas,

Well, Me and my buddy are headed out this Friday at 7am to Dickinson for the NDCC and I cannot wait. This is my first ever attempt at contest hunting and we are going early from the 1st to the 17th of January to hunt. It should be awesome, a 16 day straight coyote hunting trip with the NDCC right smack in the middle. :D Just figured we'd get plenty of scounting done and be all set we hope.

To you fellas hunting the NDCC, we"ll see ya there and best of luck to you all. It will be great to finally meet some of you guys in person and I am looking forward to a great hunt and cold beer afterward. I'll be the guy with the long blond ponytail and alot of missed coyotes and the stories that go with it.

Good luck to ya all!!!!!

Its normally not that long. We usually go out for 10 days or so in early December and then again for 10-12 days in the first week of Jan but hunting all my best spots a month before I would hunt them during the NDCC seemed kinda dumb so we just combined the two trips. :D

First week we will be scouting/hunting new spots, howling, locating, glassing and leaving all my existing spots alone and then come contest time, hunt the best of the bunch. Hell, i dont know. I have never hunted in a contest before so we are just hoping that we are putting together a good strategy as best we can and hopefully will have a dog or two come check in time. :D

Good luck,

Jaybic

Thanks fellas,

Bnb,I would love to think I could show the ND boys how its done and we're gonna give it our best shot but Im pretty sure we're gonna get our ass handed to us. Todd and Tory Heid and a good few others really know what they're doing and being local helps tons is my guess. Anyway, I am just hoping to have a dang good time, maybe meet a few fellas in person, shoot some coyotes,(I should be able to kill something in 16 days!!!!!!) drink some beers(many beers!!!)

Dcoy, sounds like your trip went well and Semper Fi to you as well Amigo.

jaybic with a whole week of being able to scout should give you a good advantage in the tournament. The number one thing that i have noticed and been told by tournament directors is that first place team and the 20th place team is usually simply there shooting ablitiy. the first place team makes all there shots count and the teams that fall in behind will usually have a miss or two. Its a factor that seems to seperate them all the time. Good luck and i hope you have some stories to share thursday night after the calcutta acution.

Hopefully we will have a few coyotes on the ground to tell you about by thursday. Cant wait, truck rolls at 8am. Damn New years eve, 10 hour drive with a hangover. Thats gonna suck but just knowing i got 16 days of nonstop coyote hunting in Nodak will wipe it right out!

Word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See ya there,
